Got the giant pumpkins in the ground this weekend, hopefully come October we have a giant to put up on the scales. This year I am growing the 2350 Gienger (New MN record) and the 1464 Brown (very nice orange).

This just in, the MN state record was broken! With a behemoth of a pumpkin Travis Gienger traveled 35 hours from Anoka, Minnesota to half moon bay, California to weigh his 2350lb Godzilla gourd. Congrats to Travis, what an amazing accomplishment!

On Saturday, Minnesota had the last pumpkin weigh off of the season and it ended with a bang! Lots of personal best were broken, GPC jackets were obtained, and a record was broken! The MN state record was broken this Saturday making the largest pumpkin ever grown in Minnesota come in at a whopping 1990.5lbs! Congrats to Charlie Bernstrom for obtaining the record. But wait there’s more! Another Minnesota grower drove all the way to California to weigh his monster of a pumpkin. Travis Gienger of Anoka has a pumpkin estimated to weigh over 2300lbs and is the 4th largest to ever be measured. He will definitely be getting a state record but will he get a world record? Stay tuned and you find out!

Posting this a little late but here ya go. Went to my first weigh off of the season up in Altoona, Wisconsin. The 2nd annual River Prairie Giant Pumpkin Festival was a great time. I didn’t bring a pumpkin but got second place for my marrow and third for my tomato. Lots of great pumpkins were there even one breaking a ton winning first place! Congrats Jim Ford! Got to meet many other growers and can’t wait to come back next season!
