Dog Refuses to Leave Downed Soldier. Sergeant Miller and his K9, Rex, didn’t often see combat like this, but when they did, they were inseparable. Clearing homes together was their duty, and their bond made them fearless. Then came the ambush.
Gunfire exploded around them, cutting Miller off from his platoon. He dove into an alley, blood staining the sand beneath him. Disoriented and wounded, he thought it was the end. But Rex never left.

Two confirmed kills were credited to the K9 that day, both captured on drone footage. Each time, he returned to Miller’s side, resuming his protective stance as if nothing else mattered.
When reinforcements finally arrived, Rex collapsed. He had been hit during the fight but stayed standing until Miller was safe. On the way to the safe zone, both man and dog lost consciousness. Hours later, they woke up in the hospital alive, together.
