The CMRC Summer AKC Licensed Field Trial is this upcoming weekend starting with the Open Stake on Thursday, July 30. The Derby Stake will
Run on Friday, July 31. The Amateur and Qualifying Stakes begin on Saturday, August 1 and the trial will conclude on Sunday, August 2.

The CMRC grounds are closed to training during the trial including the day prior to the trial on Wednesday, July 29. By rule, competing dogs are not allowed to train on the grounds within 24 hours of the trial. And it is club policy to close the grounds to training 24 hours prior to a licensed event so as to not foul the grounds prior to competition and to simply facilitate the preparations for the event.

The Four Points Retriever Club will be hosting a mid-summer All Stakes Field Test on CMRC grounds Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12. This is a licensed event of the North American Hunting Retriever Association.

CMRC grounds will be closed to all training beginning on Friday, July 10 and will remain closed to training until the FPRC event is concluded on Sunday afternoon.

If you are not familiar with NAHRA events, they are terrific events highlighting our retrievers in realistic hunting scenarios on both land and water, and their tests in the intermediate and senior levels also include upland hunts, steadiness to wing and shot, and trailing. A Senior level NAHRA retriever is an accomplished, well-rounded hunting companion.
Entries are closed of course by now, but visitors are welcome to come out and observe the tests.

Our friends in the Four Points Club are very friendly and welcoming and would be eager to tell you all about their club and their tests. And many members of FPRC are also members of CMRC, so it is very likely they are not strangers to you.

CMRC Members,

We are sad to have heard Saturday that a good friend Wayne Anderson had passed away. Wayne was a long-time field trailer in Minnesota and longtime member of the Hennepin County Amateur Retriever Club, among others. He was a mainstay in the field trial community. Wayne had been preceded in death by his wife Jacquie a few years back. Wayne and Jacquie were well known for their wonderful Golden Retrievers and their beautiful training property near Loretto, MN. Wayne and his wife also made a home In Pavo, Georgia for the winters and he trained with a group there.

When he finished training, he lived with his daughter and family in Michigan.

Perhaps the highlight in Wayne's field trial career was going 8 series in the 2017 National Amateur Retriever Championships in Mondovi, Wisconsin with his talented Golden Pistol.

On behalf of CMRC, we wish Wayne’s family and friends comfort in their time of loss.

CMRC SHOT CLINIC! Wednesday, MAY 13

Clinic begins at 2:00 pm and will conclude at 6:00 pm. Best to get there early. The shot clinic is scheduled for the same evening as our regular May club meeting, so you can all come and attend the meeting as well.

The shot clinic is open to members and non-members alike. Feel free to invite your friends and neighbors to take advantage of this service.

CMRC Member, Dr. Katelyn Mertes DVM, will again be on hand to perform your routine Rabies, DHLPP, Lyme and Bordetella vaccinations, draw blood samples to check for heartworm and tick-borne illnesses. Dr. Katelyn will not have any preventative flea and tick medications on hand, but will provide you with a QR code that will direct you to the website of her clinic, “Pet Nation,” where you will be able to order all of your preventatives.

Ivermectin will not be available.

Dr. Katelyn will also be performing blood draws to take back to the lab and perform the common heartworm/tickborne illnesses test.

The shot clinic is provided as a service to our membership and serves as a bit of a fundraiser.

We thank Dr. Katelyn for her time as well as her clinic Pet Nation Veterinary Care Center of Albertville for their support.

We have two of our three AKC licensed events with the spring field trial and the hunt test coming up in the next month. We may have things to discuss on these events at the club meeting. Of course ALL members are encouraged to help at our events if they are able. Reach out to our event chairs to volunteer.
