CURRENT ADOPTABLE KITTIES ❗️
Click: Photos, Adoptable Kitties album, the cat, click AGAIN on photo Kitties On The Prairie has some adoptable kitties and some that are permanent residents because of medical or behavior problems. We also have a few ferals that, after spay/neutering choose to live outside. We have buildings and feeding areas for those cats. We also have many special needs cats that a

re not adoptable and require lifetime care. Donations are especially needed for them. If you can't have a cat and want to get your "kitty fix" we love to have visitors come out and socialize with them. Helping with nail trimming is always appreciated as well. Sometime that can be a 2 person job! For information call 643-3960 or e-mail [email protected]. Our business mailing address is 610 Dallas St Sauk City, Wi 53583 Donations of food and clay litter can also be dropped off at that location. TNR Tip Thursday: Trap Training

⚠️ Make sure you have a TNR appointment PRIOR to actually trapping a cat!

Trap training can be used to help a community cat get used to eating near and then in a trap BEFORE the trap is actually set, which can make trapping day more successful.

If a trap can be safely left outdoors in the cat's territory for an extended period of time, it's possible to train a community cat to go in it to eat.

The area needs to be secure so no one walks off with the equipment, like a secluded backyard or a private courtyard. The process usually takes from one to two weeks.

For each trap deployed, follow these instructions:

1. Secure the front door of the trap in a raised position. You can run a stick through the sides of the trap to block the door from falling or use a twist tie or similar item to tie it in place.

2. Place the trap in the cat's territory near the normal feeding spot. Leave it in place throughout the training.

3. On the first day of the training, put the cat's usual meal on the ground a foot or two away from the trap's front door. Use a small plate or bowl. Start further away for a more skittish cat.

4. Keep putting the plate at this spot, the same distance from the trap, until the cat starts eating the food. Then, for the next meal, move the plate six inches or so closer to the trap's front door. When the cat starts eating from this new spot, move the plate closer to the front door again.

5. Repeat this process until the plate is right next to the front of the trap. When the cat is comfortable eating there, move the plate a few inches inside the trap. Keep waiting for the cat to eat, then moving the plate a few inches further in until it is all the way in the back of the trap and she is going in after it.

On your scheduled trapping date, at the time the cat is used to eating, untie or unblock the front door, bait the trap, and set the trigger.

Hi everyone 🐾💛

As many of you know, we’re a small, family-run rescue currently in the process of securing our nonprofit status. For now, all funding is coming directly out of our own pockets — something we expected in the beginning — but we’ve had a large wave of intake requests lately, and it’s stretching our resources thin.

We’re running low on supplies and would be incredibly grateful for any help. If you’re able to contribute, whether by donating directly or purchasing items from our wishlist, it would mean the world to us and the animals in our care.

Unfortunately due to still waiting for our 501c3 application to be approved I cannot make a chewy wishlist, YET. Hopefully soon we can add that one too 🤍📦

Thank you all so much for supporting us — whether it’s through donations, shares, or simply kind words. It truly keeps us going.

With love,
Emily, Jax, and Jo 🤍🤍🐾

I hope anyone who has chickens or goats could consider adding more, to help this awful situation!!!!!

Our biggest needs right now:
Our chickens are in rough shape — they’ve got things literally crawling off of them, and we’re in desperate need of, safeguard, panacur dewormer and food grade diatomaceous earth to help treat them and give them some relief, we are working on finding some bedding as well.
We’re also working to expand the goat area, so we’re in need of fence panels like the ones pictured and woven wire fencing. Every bit helps us make their space safer and more secure.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support, share, and donate — we couldn’t do this without you. ❤️

😪😪😪😪😪😪😪 This is tragic and so very sad. 2 large hoarding situations going on at the same time.

We’ve been contacted by several individuals and breeders who previously sold or gave animals to the individual involved in this case. We understand how upsetting and emotional this situation is for many people, and we truly appreciate everyone who has reached out with concern.

At this time, we want to be very clear — our focus is solely on what is best for the animals. These animals will be placed as pets only, not for breeding or for slaughter. Our ultimate goal is for each and every one to find a safe, loving, and permanent home.

There are roughly a dozen rescues involved in this case, each helping to care for and place animals responsibly. About 50 bunnies have already been transferred to partner rescues that specialize in rabbit care. I’m sorry, but we are not going to match photos or trace individual bunnies back to breeders. We intentionally chose rescues that have experience with rabbits and the ability to provide necessary vetting and care.

We do not have any contracts or legal agreements requiring us to return animals to breeders. As a rescue, our responsibility is to the animals’ welfare above all else.

Thank you for understanding and for supporting us as we work together to give these animals the bright, happy futures they deserve.

Today was insane. We’re just getting home, showered, and hopefully headed to bed as our team has lots to still do tomorrow. This is an active investigation, so we can only share limited information and photos at this time. But we promise…more updates to come. There is LOTS to share!

In the meantime, if you’re able, we would be eternally grateful for your support during this time. Tax deductible donations can be made via credit card by visiting sftsrescue.org/donate, Venmo , or mailed to 1602 Blossom Lane, Madison WI, 53716.

THANK YOU to all the rescues and shelters who stepped up for these animals today. We are honored to stand alongside all of you.💖

🐈🐾🐈🐾🐈 These adorable kittens are still looking for a family to adopt and love them. They are in two seperate foster homes, but could be adopted together, as they share their foster homes with other kittens. When adopting two, we waive the fee for a second kitten. $100.00 adoption fee and a short application is required. An online application is found at the beginning of our page under dashboard.

🐾🐾 From the catio, it is a little too hot today, so they are not all out and about. They like to lay under the pallets we have under the cat huts, on the cool ground🏡🏡
