Day #4
When caring for orphaned neonatal rats, maintaining healthy weight gain is critical for survival and development. In some rescue situations, experienced rehabilitators may carefully supplement kitten milk replacer (KMR) with small amounts of additional milk-based fats, such as heavy cream, to help provide extra calories for fragile babies struggling to gain weight. Any supplementation should be done cautiously, gradually, and with close monitoring to avoid digestive upset, dehydration, or aspiration. Tiny lives require constant care, warmth, hydration, and proper feeding techniques to give them the best chance to thrive. 🐀🍼

Day #2 and our 4 abandoned babies are taking formula and sleeping on 90⁰F blanket, keeping body warmth consistent until these little guys are able to regulate their own temperature is CRUCIAL in developing the bodies digestion, and immune system. Without warmth they are not able to properly break down their nutrients.

Thank you to all who follow and support our mission!

During a late-night shed demolition in a follower’s backyard, four baby rats were discovered abandoned and vulnerable after their mother fled the area, we were contacted and traveled 45 minutes to safely retrieve the babies and bring them into care. Despite the unexpected circumstances, the goal was simply to give these tiny animals a chance to survive and receive proper attention.
We estimate them to be 1-2 days old

The Florida roof rat, or Rattus rattus, is a common, highly adaptable rodent found throughout warm regions like Florida. Known for their excellent climbing ability, they typically nest in trees, attics, and other elevated spaces rather than underground. These nocturnal animals play a role in the ecosystem by feeding on fruits, seeds, and grains. Baby roof rats are completely dependent on their mothers, so when one is orphaned, it requires frequent hand-feeding with proper milk replacer and careful care to survive. With the right support, these intelligent animals can grow strong and eventually thrive on their own in the wild.

We may soon be welcoming two adorable BABY guinea pigs into our rescue!!! And we’re beginning to look for a loving, responsible home for them.

Guinea pigs are gentle, social animals that thrive on companionship and daily care, making them wonderful pets for families who are ready for the commitment. If you or someone you know may be interested in adopting these two sweet piggies, please reach out to us for more information and to be considered.

Fun fact: Guinea pigs “talk” a lot more than most people realize—they make a variety of sounds like squeaks, purrs, and whistles to express everything from excitement to contentment!
