Pre 4th safety message for all our furry friends- 4th of July can be stressful for pets due to loud fireworks, unfamiliar guests, and general chaos. Here are some practical tips to help keep your furry friends calm and safe:
⸻
🧨 Before the Fireworks Start
1. Exercise Early: Take dogs for a long walk during the day to tire them out.
2. Update ID Tags & Microchips: In case they bolt, make sure all contact info is current.
3. Secure the Environment: Keep doors, windows, and pet flaps closed. Set up a safe, escape-proof room.
4. Create a Cozy Den: Use a crate or a quiet interior room with bedding, toys, and water.
⸻
🔊 During Fireworks
1. Use White Noise: Turn on a fan, TV, or calming music to help drown out the noise.
2. Stay Calm Yourself: Pets mirror your energy. Speak softly, avoid overreacting.
3. Offer Distractions: Puzzle feeders, chew toys, or treat-dispensing toys help redirect anxiety.
4. Comfort, But Don’t Overdo It: Offer reassurance, but don’t overly coddle — it can reinforce fear.
⸻
🌿 Additional Tools
