🐾 Friendly Labor Day Reminder! 🐾

Heritage Veterinary Hospital will be closed Monday, September 7th for Labor Day and will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, September 8th.

We want to make sure our clients know where to turn if their pet needs urgent or emergency care while we’re closed. 🐾❤️

Foxtails may look harmless, but those tiny, barbed grass awns can work their way into your pet’s skin, paws, ears, nose, and even deeper tissues. They don’t come back out on their own very easily, which is why early detection matters!

If your pet has been running through tall grass, keep an eye out for excessive licking, sneezing, head shaking, swelling, or sudden discomfort. 🌾🐾

And yes… Dr. Navarro officially beat the foxtail. 😂

Behind every veterinarian is a person who gives so much of themselves to care for the animals we love. 🤍

They sacrifice sleep, family time, and sometimes even their own emotional well-being to be there when their patients need them most.

They carry the weight of difficult decisions, celebrate the smallest victories, and somehow show up the next day ready to do it all over again.

Veterinarians don’t just treat animals. They advocate for them, comfort them, fight for them, and help guide their families through some of the hardest moments imaginable.

The itch is real 😂

POV: You found fleas on your last patient and suddenly you’re convinced you’re itchy for the rest of the day. 🫠

But jokes aside, flea prevention is important for BOTH dogs and cats — even only indoor pets. 🐶🐱

Fleas can:
• Cause intense itching, skin irritation, and flea allergy dermatitis
• Transmit parasites like tapeworms
• Multiply quickly and infest your home before you even realize there’s a problem
• Be especially troublesome for pets with flea allergies — sometimes just a few bites can cause a major reaction

And seeing one flea doesn’t necessarily mean there’s only one. A large portion of a flea infestation can exist in the environment as eggs and immature stages, not just on your pet.

The best way to stay ahead of the itch? Consistent, year-round flea prevention for every pet in the household. ❤️
