We may be a day late, but around here, every day feels like National Dog Day. 🐶💙

Yesterday was National Dog Day, and we couldn’t let it pass without celebrating all the amazing pups who walk through our doors. From first visits and puppy kisses to our longtime patients we’ve watched grow over the years, we’re lucky to spend our days caring for so many incredible dogs.

☀️ Los Angeles is heating up, and our pets are feeling it too! 🐾

With the current heat wave, it’s especially important to keep an eye on your furry family members. Limit outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day, keep plenty of fresh water available, provide a cool place to rest, and always check the pavement before heading out for a walk.

Keep an eye out for signs of overheating like excessive panting, drooling, weakness, vomiting, confusion, or collapse. If you’re concerned your pet may be experiencing heatstroke, seek veterinary care right away.

The Santa Monica Animal Shelter is joining Clear the Shelters Day this Saturday, August 22nd, with reduced adoption fees for pets looking for their forever homes. ❤️

🐾 First visit cuteness overload! 🐾

This sweet 8-week-old pup stopped by SMPMC for a visit with Dr. Hillebrand, weighing in at a whopping 11.3 lbs. 🥹🐶

According to the board, the favorites are already very clear: treats and kisses. Honestly, we can relate. 😂💙
