Big news from the SMPMC team—our very own Derek (also known as Gary’s dad) is officially an RVT! He passed his exam this past week, and we couldn’t be more proud.

Derek has been a calm, kind, and steady presence in the clinic, and now with that well-earned title, we’re even more excited for everything ahead.

We’ve seen firsthand how much he cares about every pet that comes into our Santa Monica veterinary clinic, and now he gets to keep doing what he loves—officially.

Let him know congrats next time you see him!

This past week, we celebrated the heavenly birthday of Eloise—a longtime patient who was so loved by everyone here. Her mom, Lisa, has been bringing her to SMPMC for years, and even after Eloise passed, she brought in a cake to honor her special day.

It was such a sweet and touching moment. We’re so grateful to have been part of Eloise’s life.

He loves treats, biting dad’s shoe, and stealing hearts.

Buffy has been slaying our hearts since she was just 2 months old—and now at 12.5 years old, she’s still got it! From her golden smile to her gentle soul, this girl is pure magic. We feel so lucky every time she walks through our doors.

Big week for little Nyla!
This sweet 9-week-old kitten had her first ever visit to Santa Monica Pet Medical Center—and absolutely stole our hearts. From her tiny meows to her love of food and toys, she made quite the impression.

Weighing in at just 2.98 lbs, Nyla handled her checkup like a pro (with a little help from her charm). Welcome to the SMPMC family, Nyla—we can’t wait to see you grow!

Rocky’s first visit to SMPMC and he’s already stealing hearts (and maybe a few treats). At just 8 weeks and 3.9 lbs, he’s got the eye of the tiger and the appetite of a champ.

As the champ himself once said: “It’s not about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.” And Rocky here is ready to take on the world—one belly rub at a time.

We loved meeting this little legend today—can’t wait to watch him grow!
