From a lush shaded canyon to the dry chaparral of the Santa Monica Mountains, this trail is a classic. The panoramic views of the city are unparalleled, including a clear view of the Hollywood Sign, downtown, distant mountains, and the ocean.

This dog-friendly trails provided ample space for dogs and their guardians to step to the side as needed. It is essential that all dogs remain on leash and have water made available to them throughout this hike, and breaks in the shade are recommended.

๐๐ˆ๐Ž: Tiger is a 9-month-old rescue pup who was adopted yesterday! She has the most caring guardian who is doing all they can to learn about dog behavior, enrichment, and dog care as a first-time guardian. They are also setting up a great network to support Tiger as she grows, including trainers, groomers, sitters, walkers, and all.

As she arrived home only yesterday, she is a bit fearful and uncertain of new humans, sounds, and stairs. Tiger is exceptionally brave, even then, as she took a step down some stairs, sniffed along a busy street, and came around for a neck massages during our visit. She is clearly a lovey, snuggly pup and I cannot wait to see who she grows to be as she builds confidence!

๐’๐„๐‘๐•๐ˆ๐‚๐„: An extended โ€œSeaside Stayโ€ to ensure Tiger was not alone a day after her adoption while her guardian responded to a last-minute work emergency. She was very sleepy before and after her walk around the neighborhoods, but we still found time to practice scent-work and start noise desensitization.

This is absolutely devastating. My heart goes out to Andrew and Maverick.

It is important to find insured, bonded, and experienced caregivers. Certain softwares or programs like Rover.com and The Pet Swap can be convenient and cheap, but there is a lot of risk there as Rover and other house and pet-sitting softwares contract out caregivers. Anyone who wants additional income or loves being around dogs can sign up. Or, in the case of Pet Swap, there is not even a software involved and an even greater risk of situations like this.

The amount of horror stories I hear from clients after using one of these platforms is mind-boggling and heartbreaking.

๐๐ˆ๐Ž: Teddi is a 15-week-old pup enjoying a puppyhood full of love, support, and every opportunity to learn. Her nearly 11-year-old brother Oso has fully come around, as the two will play together for hours, sparring and engaging in parallel play in equal measure. As I noted in their post-visit report card: โ€œthey are outrageously adorable and it was a joy caring for them.โ€

๐’๐„๐‘๐•๐ˆ๐‚๐„: An extended โ€œSeaside Stayโ€ to accommodate Teddiโ€™s routine. We cycled through short, intentional intervals: play, eat, potty, settle, and repeat. Oso was content with his own treats, cuddles, and solo play.
