It breaks my heart to have to deliver this news, but yesterday we lost our mama boa, Lilah. She was about 10-11 years old and had previously had 3 healthy litters totaling 69 healthy offspring with my daddy boa, Salazar. I chose not to breed her this year to give her a break. Just this past couple of weeks, to my surprise, she started acting gravid. Lying on her sides and such like a prego snake will.. Odd I thought..then I read about boas that will sometimes ovulate without having been bred. I thought that was what she was doing. But yesterday when I went to check on her I found her lifeless. I have no clue what went wrong and I blame myself for not taking her to the vet and thinking she was ok.
The pic is of the last intact shed she left me..those windows are about 5' across..maybe a lil more. Gonna miss the ornery old gal.
