Hello Equestrian Community Members.

It appears that the reveal of the Earl Warren Showgrounds Master Plan is a bit delayed, but your concerns about the loss of barn space and the plans for a reported 6000 seat arena are ongoing.

A large community depends on the Earl Warren Showgrounds. The 19th DAA service area includes Carpinteria all the way up to Gaviota and from the ocean to the top of the foothills.

Here are some things you can do:

Write a letter to: 19th DAA Board of Directors, [email protected] and send a copy to your city council member. To locate the contact information for Sthe anta Barbara City Council click HERE, the Goleta city council click HERE, and the Carpinteria City Council click HERE.

You can tell your city council member about your concerns as a horse owner, as a resident impacted by noiseand traffic and parking issues from planned Showgrounds activities, as a resident who wants horses and equestrian activities to continue to be a part of everyday life in your city. You can ask your city council person to ask to preview the Master Plan and evaluate how it would impact their constituents.

Make a phone call to your city council person. Let them know that you are a horse owner. Share your concerns about needing a large animal evacuation center at Earl Warren Showgrounds that retains enough user-ready box stalls to house hundreds of horses during a major wildfire. Your city council person may have no idea that the master planners may have not fully considered disaster preparedness, traffic or noise.

Plan to attend Earl Warren Board meetings in person or via Zoom. The next meeting is at 4PM this Thursday, June 26th at the Administration Building (Las Positas entrance). Here is the Zoom link: The Master Plan is not likely to be presented at this meeting.
