It’s hard to express how proud I am of this trio. First of all, as a trainer and a coach, there is immense satisfaction when your student beats you, riding your horse!! Andie Sue Roth competed my boy Uiver to win the Intermediate 1 classes on both Saturday and Sunday at the Santa Barbara Chapter CDS show this past weekend. Eager, owned by Kate Hauck, and I were a close second on both days. Uiver was the consummate professional he always is and Eager tried his heart out. Andie has now achieved her USDF Silver scores and her I1 scores toward her Gold, on Uiver in just 6 months time.

It was a wonderful weekend all the way around. The weather was perfect and many thanks to the CDS Santa Barbara Chapter for putting on a well organized show with a lovely quiet atmosphere. And it is always great to hang out with my peeps at In The Irons Farm.

I am amazed that this beautiful boy has not sold already. In spite of many breaks due to SO MUCH rain this season, Contempo “Tempi”, continues to improve. He tries and learns every ride. At 18.2, Tempi is a kind, gentle giant with 3 comfortable, easy to ride gaits and does not ride like, or feel like, a big horse. Tempi competed at the October and November 2022 Thermal at 3rd level, winning his 3rd 3 class in November. He is now schooling 4th level and PSG movements. He has fluid lateral work and expressive, confirmed flying changes, working on both 4 and 3 stride tempi changes and working pirouettes. Tempi is soon to be 12 years old and has a puppy dog personality, loves attention, loves to be groomed and stands quietly in cross ties. He is sensible in turn-out, comes when he is called and would pretty much like to be in your hip pocket if he could. He trailers like a pro, and is an all around pleasure to handle. He would be a great match for a junior/young rider or adult amateur. He has been owned my the same person since birth, and is only offered for sale due to budget constraints. HITS Desert Horse Park Dressage 2023 at Thermal is a wrap. Desert Dressage V closed the series with some epically strange weather. Howling winds, rain and unusually cold temperatures all framed what was a great show. Only in California can you see a palm tree and snow in the same picture. Braving the wind and rain, Kate Hauck and Eager won their I1 class Friday and had an even better score on Saturday. Kate Sulzbach had successful ride’s in very big Third level classes on her boy Limited Edition and a client’s horse Gus.

I have to give huge kudos to the management of Thermal and all the shows organizers and secretaries. The entire show series ran smoothly and Thermal’s bio-security protocols kept all of our horses safe and healthy. Last year’s EHV outbreak was beyond scary and it reeked havoc with our show season. But everyone, including the Desert Horse Park, learned from the tragedy and made this season better and safer. Lastly, I had to take the long route to and home from the show due to both hwy 79 and 78 requiring chains due to snow and ice. What! Yes not kidding. Strange weather indeed.

Rocovich Equestrian / Rocking Horse Ranch in Ramona, CA has a few openings for boarding, training or retirements horses. We are a full service facility that offers year round grass turnout and many other service amenities. The barn has 12x12 stalls with attached paddocks and outside paddocks are either 24x48 or 24x24. 1 opening in the barn is available now, 1 large paddock is open now and 1 more will be available in June. We have Premier footing in the arena and roundpen, and feed high quality Orchard, Timothy and Alfalfa. Arenas are groomed daily and paddocks/barn are cleaned twice a day. Training packages are available with Terri Rocovich, An FEI Dressage rider, USDF Judge, USPC National Examiner and USEA ICP certified trainer.
