🐾 Congratulations to the legendary Andy Linton! 🏆
Watching Andy take Best in Show at Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show this year.
This photo takes me back to a very special day. Andy is pictured here winning Best of Winners on my very first champion Boxer, Michaela defeating 87 dogs that day and earning us a five-point major. 🎉
It was a five-day show in Knoxville, Tennessee. Andy had made the trip all the way from California with what was then the #1 Doberman in the country. That dog went on to win Best in Show all five days adding to a career total of 99 Best in Show wins.

A common pattern:

“He’s great at home… but outside he forgets everything.”

That’s not a stubborn dog, that’s a dog who hasn’t learned to carry standards into real world environments yet.

Different environment = different difficulty.
Same standard = same expectation.

Two dogs can look similar and be built totally differently, mixed breeds are often a unique blend of drives and temperament.

Resource Note:
Every breed has a national parent club and a rescue network. For mixed breeds, a DNA test can be a helpful starting point to understand likely breed influences.

DNA note (quick + honest):
Mixed-breed DNA tests can be surprisingly helpful for identifying the “main” breed components. The tiny percentages are best treated as estimates and different companies can sometimes disagree.
