My bottle baby foster, Nimbus McCat 5 Purricane took quite a while to get used to her bottle. She FINALLY has it down. Please enjoy the cuteness.

The amount of pure joy this brought me. I actually giggled. So, we all have lil hacks and tricks we use. How to monitor EtO2 on a sedated patient. This one was shared recently by Lucas and I couldn’t wait to try it. Um… it worked so well. Don’t take my word for. Try it.

A young man cat presented for a limp with no known injury. When he laid down it revealed a concerning symptom: one paw had bluish-purple toe beans and was cold to the touch, while the other remained healthy pink.

Those subtle but critical findings, along with additional testing, confirmed a Feline Aortic Thromboembolism (saddle thrombus) a life-threatening emergency where a blood clot lodges at the base of a cat’s aorta, severely restricting blood flow to the hind legs. Unfortunately, heart disease like hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) can cause these clots to form even in young cats. Certain breeds are more prone to these conditions.

Small details, like the color of a cat’s toe beans, can point to a life-threatening diagnosis. If your cat suddenly develops a limp, cries out in pain, or has a cold, weak limb, seek emergency veterinary care immediately.

Elly is helping me unload swag from my first conference. It’s a big deal for the Utah veterinary community to have such a high end conference in our own backyard. Dr Justine Lee VETgirl put on an excellent conference in 🌟Salt Lake City, Utah🌟 with local VTS talent! They’re some of my favorite lecturers and spoke in the Veterinary Technician Track. And I have a new favorite, Neuro VTS, Beka Major. I’m sure Elly’s CT and Edgar’s seizure videos would be intriguing to her. 😂

Loved being able to attend with my longtime bestie, lots of friends and reconnect with amazing people that have shaped our vet med community. You guys I saw Dr. Susan McDonald! Yes I hugged her! Eeep!!

Came across some cool cars in the under park. You could end national hunger with the value of vehicles in one row. Learned they were all in a traveling club well out of my tax bracket.

It may not be the most glamorous thing I do. However, I am so grateful to be able to provide this level of patient care with these f***l management systems. Having uncontrollable 🩸💩 is not only messy and odiferous, it can lead to painful skin infections.

To some in vet med it may seem silly that I’m singing the praises of this particular task. We (vet med) didn’t have this 20 years ago for their hospitalized patients. Back then we had to disrupt their sleep and recovery to bathe them. Something that happened several times a shift. My patients and my back are grateful for advancements in the field.

Ollie the parakeet and Alice the goat were just two of the many patients who brought joy to my weekend. I had the chance to meet some amazing pet owners who go above and beyond for their pets. I love not knowing who’s going to walk through the door.

Kitten season is upon us. What is kitten season? As the weather gets warmer, an influx of stray cats give birth, marking the beginning of Kitten Season. Kitten Season is arriving early this year, prompted by a milder winter. Thousands of kittens are brought to Utah shelters and rescues, leading to severe shortages of foster homes and resources.

What can you do?

🐈‍⬛ Foster: Shelters always need foster homes, especially during this time.

🍼 Donate: Items like kitten formula, wet food, heating pads, and litter are in high demand.

✂️Spay/Neuter: Your family veterinarian is more than happy to schedule your cat’s surgery.

Other spay and neuter options:
The Humane Society of Utah offers a “Last Litter Program” to fix mothers and adopt out kittens.
• Spay and Neuter of Salt Lake
• Wasatch Community Clinic
• Operation Pawpulation
• Affordable Animal Care Utah
