This sweet boy definitely didn’t love being shaved… but once all the mats were removed, he was much more comfortable. 💕

Mats pull on the skin, trap dirt and moisture, and make it hard for cats to groom themselves.

Sometimes shaving is the kindest and safest option — even when it isn’t their favorite part of the day.

The good news? He is now on an every 8 week bath & deshed schedule to help prevent matting from happening again. Regular maintenance keeps the coat clean, loose undercoat removed, and helps avoid the stress and discomfort of another full shave down.

Prevention is always easier — and kinder. 🐾

Foxtail season is here 🌾⚠️

The green foxtails in the first picture may not seem like a problem, but once they begin drying out like the second picture, they become a serious risk to pets.

As foxtails dry, the seed heads become sharp and barbed. They can easily work their way into:
• Paws & between toes
• Ears
• Eyes
• Nose
• Mouth
• Skin & coat

Unlike normal grass seeds, foxtails don’t break down and they only move forward once embedded. This can lead to painful infections, abscesses, swelling, and sometimes even surgery to remove them.

Long-haired pets and pets with furry feet are especially at risk, but any pet can be affected.

What you can do:
✔️ Check your pet after walks and outdoor play
✔️ Inspect paws, ears, eyes, armpits, and groin areas
✔️ Keep coats maintained and feet trimmed
✔️ Avoid fields or areas with dry foxtails whenever possible
✔️ Seek veterinary care if you notice limping, sneezing, head shaking, swelling, or sudden irritation

Foxtails may look harmless, but they can become very dangerous once they dry out. Maintaining outdoor areas and routine grooming can make a huge difference. 🐾
