This audio will never not make me cackle!

Boogie and Scoot, our amazingly resilient tripod babies, are doing incredible. Boogs had to have a THIRD surgery to remove what was left of his femur and surrounding tissue, but I’m glad we decided to do it bc we think that was the source of the continued infection. Dearborn Animal Hospital did an amazing job - and took care of his umbilical hernia and neuter surgery at the same time.

And that means… they’re just about ready to interview prospective new parents! Although tbh foster mom would love to keep them. But she’s trying to stay strong. Jenn Gristick

Everyone wants the unique coloring - the blue eyes, the Siamese, the calico, the white floofs. And the brown tabbies, tuxies, and black beauties get overlooked. My heart sometimes sinks when we get these kittens - not bc I don’t absolutely love them - but bc I know they will have a harder time finding their families.

Personalities can be shaped by their foster families, but at least some of it is a built in feature. If you remember Nefertiti from our Egyptian litter several years ago… she was stunning and had the exact same upbringing as her littermates…. But she was just always spooky and skittish and she still is today. Still just as gorgeous, but not a people cat as her default setting. I worked with her so much but she was just hardcoded to be that way.

All that to say: the beautiful ones may not have the best engagement with people. And the “boring” ones might just be the best thing to ever happen to you.

Everyone wants the Siamese kitten with the blue eyes.

The fluffy white kitten gets applications before their adoption post is even finished.

Meanwhile, the brown tabby, the black kitten, and the tuxedo sit there wondering what they’re doing wrong.

The funny thing?

That “rare” kitten everyone is fighting over might grow up to be completely independent and only tolerate you when the stars align.

The tabby nobody noticed might become your shadow.

The black cat everyone scrolled past might sleep on your pillow every night.

The tuxedo nobody applied for might be waiting at the door every time you come home.

Looks get attention.

Personality builds a lifetime of memories.

The best cat isn’t always the one everyone wants.

Sometimes it’s the one who’s been waiting the longest for someone to finally see them.

Don’t adopt based on color.

Adopt based on love. 🖤🐾

You guys aren’t ready for this. I’m sorry but you aren’t 😍😍 Mama Fancy and her fancy f-word babies! Still pretty baby but will be ready for adoption in like… a month? So get your proverbial pens and pencils ready!

We think perhaps Felix and Francesca might have the CH wobbles, but that’s ok! (Going to the vet Monday to discuss!) It doesn’t hurt them and it makes them even more perfectly perfect. As if you could even top their already perfect little selves!

A cat rescue saved this pup from becoming roadkill 🐾 Meet Mindy! She's sweet, she's a husky/mix, and yes, she's already broken out of two crates. This girl needs a dedicated foster who can give her the one-on-one time she deserves. Can you help?!

Kitten season be kittening FOR REAL. 😵‍💫 We got in a request to take in TWENTY kittens last night (5 moms were allowed to have babies and that’s how quickly it gets out of control) and I’m so sad we had to say no. We just can’t. We have so many on the roster, half of whom still need to be fixed and I haven’t even introduced them to you guys yet. So until we get some of these adopted, we unfortunately can’t take any more in right now. Which breaks my heart. But the rescue is limited by funds and foster homes - the desire is there but rescue isn’t free. We take a loss on every adoption and do everything we can keep funds coming in so we can continue to help.

Unrelated: Someone please tell me I have a rich relative somewhere who left me their wealthy estate and then I can remove money problems from of the equation!

No? Well shoot. Back to the drawing board.

I should have prefaced this post with a warning so here it is. WARNING! Insanely cute kittens ahead! Just a few of our kittens ready for their forever homes! All have been fixed, chipped and vaccinated (based on age) and ready to party! And snuggle. And then party some more!
