We’ve bred our tri color male Pete to our orange female Alibi. Pups should arrive the end of May, and go to their forever homes the end of July. We are very much looking forward to this litter and will be looking for a few more hunting companion homes. Please email or private message for further details. Both the sire and dam are OFA Good hips and Normal elbows.

In the book Grouse and Lesser Gods, the beginning chapter talks about the reach of rivers. How the big rivers are highways and freeways. “And the really interesting water is only as wide as you can step across.” I’d have to agree with that sentiment, and think I know exactly what he was referring to…

Ever have one of those moments where time slows down and you can see everything? Like when a baseball is coming in and you swear you can see the stitching. The brown phase grouse at Birch’s feet gave me that look. She flushed as Birch was retrieving a perfectly handled woodcock. Low, rising to the tree tops, from left to right highlighted in the Western skyline. She folded when I touched the trigger, I marked the general area I last saw her go down and collected the woodcock from Birch and off we went to find the grouse…we looked for an hour as I had taken a time stamped pic of the WC and one of the grouse. Such warm, dry conditions for October 23rd. Once I let Birch go to where he thought it was, we found it. 😊 There’s always a story behind those tailgate pictures. Great memories for a quick after work hunt, on a Wednesday afternoon!
