A Heartfelt Farewell & Thank You

With deep gratitude and a touch of sadness, we announce our retirement from farm sitting and pet sitting. It has been an incredible journey, and we have truly loved providing this service to our community.

Caring for your beloved animals has been an honor, and we are so grateful for the trust you placed in us over the years. This experience has been a blessing, and we will always cherish the connections we've made—both with you and your critters.

I have mentioned more than once how much fun this job has become. We are so blessed by this service. Ariel and I not only get to spend time with a wide variety of animals but also in unique settings. Such is the case with my current job. I, Barb, am caring for two beautiful dogs with the sweetest disposition. They have filled my heart with love. Not only am I enjoying these beautiful animals, I am doing it in a beautiful setting. It has been a pleasure to wake up each day and marvel in the beauty of North Idaho and Lake Pend Oreille.

Things have finely quieted down for us at Selkirk Farmsitting after a very busy summer. Our beloved customers and their precious animals kept both Ariel and Barb busy. We have been providing this service since 2021 and have made some wonderful friends in the process. We have had the opportunity to care for a variety of animals, both domestic and farm, in a variety of settings, such fun times. We strongly believe animals do best when cared for in their own environment and with regular routines. Our in home service also provides customers peace of mind knowing someone is also looking after your home in your absence. We have truly been blessed to provide this service to our community and look forward to the new year.

This has been a very busy summer for us at Selkirk Farmsitting Services, with both Ariel and I, Barb, caring for a wide variety of animals in unique settings. I am currently caring for animals in one of my favorite settings. This home is located on a mountain with woods and a large pond. Most of the critters are Feathered Friends in all sizes and shapes. They also have two cats and three loveable, playful dogs who are masters in letting their demands known. They are such a joy and over time we have developed a special bond.
But my post today is more about how this family let's nature take it's course. The animals are allowed the freedom to room and reproduce in a natural environment. They are provided shelter and one of the dogs makes sure predators are kept away as much as possible in this environment. For me, it is joy to visit and see what new critters I will be caring for, always a new adventure.

This week while my mom sits with our beloved "puppy boys", I, Ariel, am caring for two farms. It's been a minute since I've milked cows and goats but I haven't lost my knack for it. In addition to the milkers, I am caring for pet goats, chickens, geese, pups & kitties and even a guinea pig. This summer is pretty much filled up but we still have dates available for this Fall. If you have holiday get aways planned for this winter be sure to reach out soon as these times are limited.

The feeling of satisfaction from a hard job done right!
With the subzero temperatures the past week, a lot of the p**p was frozen solid to the ground. With today's warmer temperature, I was able to give this barn a much needed overhaul. The stress this messy barn caused all week has finally be relieved with the physical activity as well as knowing I am doing my job to the expected standard.
