𝐇𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐬 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐢𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞! ❤️🐾

When Hopper arrived at DRU as a stray from a California shelter at the end of August, we knew his happy ending wouldn’t take long. Today, we're thrilled to share that he has found his forever home with Susan, a previous DRU adopter!

Hopper's new family includes Possum, a Miniature Schnauzer, and even a parrot! Everyone attended the meet-and-greet, and introductions went perfectly!

Now settled into his new life, Hopper is enjoying crisp fall walks, staying warm in his new coat, and learning what it means to be loved and cherished every day.

A heartfelt thank you to Susan for once again opening her home and heart to a deserving Doberman. We are so grateful that Hopper's journey led him to such a wonderful family.

𝐒𝐀𝐒𝐒𝐘 𝐈𝐒 𝐇𝐎𝐌𝐄!

Sassy came to DRU at the end of August, and now, at just 5 months old, she’s found her forever home with Bethany and Kenneth!

Bethany and Kenneth are first-time DRU adopters who have always loved the Doberman breed. Sassy is already having lots of fun with her new brother, 2½-year-old Henry the Frenchie! We have a feeling Henry will be teaching her all the do’s and don’ts of being part of the family… LOL! 😂

Thank you, Bethany and Kenneth, for opening your hearts and home to Sassy. We’re so happy she’s found her forever family!

❤️🐾 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲, 𝐃𝐫𝐚𝐤𝐞𝐭𝐭! 🐾❤️

Drakett came to DRU in mid-September when changes in his family’s circumstances meant they could no longer provide the care he needed. It was a difficult decision made with his best interests at heart.

We’re thrilled that Drakett has found his forever home with Andrew and his son, Dana! After losing their beloved Pit Bull, they had been missing the companionship of a dog and were ready to open their hearts to a Doberman, a breed they’ve always admired and wanted to welcome into their family.

As first-time DRU adopters, Andrew and Dana are excited to begin this new adventure with Drakett, and we couldn’t be happier for them! Wishing them a lifetime of companionship, favorite toys, long walks, and all the special moments that come with having a Doberman by your side! ❤️🐾

❤️🐾 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲, 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐚! 🐾❤️

Hera came to DRU in June when her previous owner, an active-duty military member, realized that his demanding schedule no longer allowed him to give her the time, exercise, and attention she deserved. Wanting the best for her quality of life, he made the difficult decision to find her a new home.

Today, three-year-old Hera has found her perfect forever home with Sandy, Charlie, and her new canine brother, 9½-year-old Duncan! ❤️ Sandy and Charlie are previous DRU adopters and longtime supporters who know what it takes to help a Doberman thrive.

Hera has plenty of adventures ahead, with woods to explore, trails to hike, and water for swimming! Sandy and Charlie are committed to training their dogs in obedience and agility, and Hera is smart and ready to learn. With all those woodland adventures waiting, a reliable recall is at the top of her training agenda!

A huge thank you to Sandy and Charlie for opening your hearts and home to Hera and giving her the love, attention, exercise, and training she deserves. We’re so happy she’s found such a wonderful family!

❤️🐾 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐈𝐬 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞! 🐾❤️

Clay came to DRU back in August, a really nice boy who needed a new home due to changes in the dynamics of his previous household.

We couldn’t be happier with where his journey has led him! Clay is now home with Annette and Barry, previous DRU adopters who recently lost their beloved DRU boy, Kanin, to cancer after just two years together. Saying goodbye is never easy, but we’re so happy they’ve opened their hearts and home to Clay.

Annette and Barry have always given their dogs their whole hearts, and we knew Clay was going to be in wonderful hands. He’s settled right in and is making himself at home as though he’s been part of the family forever!

𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐨𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐠𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞! 𝐍𝐨𝐰 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐚𝐬 𝐍𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐭𝐚!

Nakita came to DRU back in August as a transfer from California. At 3 years old, she’s a spunky girl with lots of personality and still plenty to learn!

Sometimes, a special connection happens right here at the shelter. Beth, one of our employees, grew to love Nakita and wanted to give her the best chance at success. Beth decided to adopt her, providing the training, structure, and forever home Nakita deserves.

We couldn’t be happier that Nakita’s next chapter will be with someone who already knows and loves her and is committed to helping her succeed!

💙 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲, 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫! 💙

Hunter transferred to DRU from a California shelter at the end of August, and now, at almost 5 months old, he’s found his forever family!

Cathy and Tony are previous DRU adopters who know and love the breed. In fact, they adopted Happy just a year and a half ago, another California transfer. Sadly, they unexpectedly lost Happy to suspected DCM, leaving a heartbreaking hole in their hearts.

Now, Cathy and Tony are ready to welcome Hunter into their home! Being retired and experienced Doberman owners, they have plenty of time to devote to training, helping this young boy grow, and giving him all the love and attention he deserves.

💙 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐇𝐚𝐬 𝐆𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞! 💙
Bear has only been with us since the end of August. He came to DRU when his owner could no longer give him the time and attention he needed.

Bear is handsome, smart, friendly — the whole package! We knew it wouldn’t take long for the right family to find him, and that family turned out to be Ryan and Sara.

Ryan and Sara are first-time DRU adopters and first-time Doberman owners. They had recently lost both of their older Pitties within six months of each other and had been without a dog for a little while. When they came to DRU for their meet and greet with Bear, it didn’t take long to see the connection. Bear was exactly the dog they had been waiting for.

Ryan and Sara believe their dogs are family, and Bear will be going everywhere with them. From their home to their camp in New Hampshire, Bear will be along for the rides, the adventures, and plenty of time enjoying the water and exploring the woods.

Bear is going to have a wonderful life filled with love, family, and plenty of adventures. We couldn’t be happier for this handsome boy!

💙 𝐆𝐢𝐛𝐛𝐲 𝐈𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐇𝐨𝐦𝐞! 💙

Gibby came to DRU in 2023 at 8 years old after his owner became homeless. Through no fault of his own, he spent the next three years waiting for his forever home. Our SSNAP dogs can sometimes be the hardest to place, becoming long-term residents while our staff cares for them as their own.

Then came Kathie and Eric — who specifically applied for Gibby! Gibby is their third DRU dog, and they have a special place in their hearts for older dogs. Eric's dad, Richard, lives with them and will be Gibby's daytime companion. At their meet-and-greet, Gibby and Richard went for a walk together, and watching them stroll side by side like two old buddies melted our hearts. There was an instant connection with Kathie, Eric, and Richard that made it feel like Gibby knew these were his people.

When it was time to leave DRU, Gibby jumped in the back seat and was ready to go. After three years, he was heading home with his toys, treats, food, and all his belongings packed and ready for his new life.

Yesterday, Gibby finally got the forever home we had all hoped for.

We are so grateful to Kathie, Eric, and Richard for opening their hearts and home to one of our very special SSNAP dogs.

💙 𝐇𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐲 𝐀𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐚𝐲, 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐢𝐞! 💙

Charlie came to DRU in July at just 8 months old. He had very little socialization in his young life, and being surrendered to DRU suddenly placed him in a completely unfamiliar world.

Shelter life was really hard for Charlie. He struggled to adjust, but our staff gave him the patience, care, and support he needed while he waited for the home he so desperately wanted.

𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲, 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞, a previous DRU adopter and longtime Doberman owner. Donnie understands that Charlie is young and has a lot to learn, and he is ready to give him the patience, structure, guidance, and training he needs to become the confident, happy Doberman he is meant to be.

Sometimes, the right dog just needs the right person. Charlie found his person. 💙
