Happy Adoption Day, Emily! ๐Ÿพ๐Ÿ’•

Emily, 8ยฝ years old, came to DRU this past August as a shelter transfer and is one of our special SSNAP Dogs. Sheโ€™s a super sweet girl. Much of her history remains a mystery, and she required ongoing medical care, but once she was fully cleared, Emily was ready to begin her next chapter.

Today, she goes home with her new family! They are beyond excited to welcome her and give her the loving forever she truly deserves. ๐Ÿ’–

We are beyond grateful to share that our December Food and Toy Drive was a tremendous success! Our goal of 150 bags of food was not only met but exceeded, with an incredible ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ•๐Ÿ ๐›๐š๐ ๐ฌ ๐œ๐จ๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ž๐œ๐ญ๐ž๐.

Thanks to the amazing generosity of our supporters, we received food, toys, treatsโ€”lots of them! What a wonderful Christmas Day for the shelter dogs spending the holiday at DRU with our dedicated staff.

The Post family had been grieving the loss of their beloved female Doberman. While they had added a mixed-breed puppy, Charlie, to their home, they still felt the absence of a Doberman in their lives. As previous Doberman owners, they knew the responsibilities and joys that come with the breed โ€” and they knew the right one was out there.

They patiently waited for the perfect match, even having a meet-and-greet that didnโ€™t work out. Then they met Vader, who just turned 2. He may have the energy of a 6-month-old puppy, but the family fell in love with him instantly โ€” and Vader quickly bonded with the kids and the puppy, Charlie!

Vader needed to be neutered, and while they waited for him, the family had fun turning everything into โ€œDarth Vaderโ€ โ€” even their waffles! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ’š

Rocky came to DRU from an ACO agency in need of safety, care, and a fresh start. He hasnโ€™t been with us long, but it didnโ€™t take much time at all for the right family to find him.

At the meet and greet with the Conroy familyโ€”mom, dad, and their three boysโ€”it was clear this was something special. The family has been grieving the loss of their beloved Doberman and knew the time was right to open their hearts again.

From the moment they met Rocky, it was magic. Thomas, the youngest, arrived with a present just for him. Rocky, of course, responded the best way a Doberman knows howโ€”by doing the full Doberman lean on each family member, one by one, circling the table, soaking up pats from the boys, and showing off his goofy, silly side. He sat, listened, played, and had everyone laughing. It was clearโ€”Rocky knew he had found his people.

The family fell completely in love, and Rocky made it equally clear he wanted to be theirs.

Before they left, they asked when Rockyโ€™s birthday wasโ€”and when they discovered itโ€™s the same as dadโ€™s, they knew without a doubt he was meant to join their family.

๐ŸŽ„โœจ **Holiday Fun at DRU!** โœจ๐ŸŽ„

Every day, our incredible DRU staff takes such great care of the DRU dogs, ensuring theyโ€™re happy and healthy. So today, we decided to turn the tables and have a little fun for themโ€”because they truly deserve it!

What an epic holiday celebration we had. Our festivities were packed with all the holiday cheer, incredible food, and a *very* memorable gingerbread decorating contest.

Now, letโ€™s talk about that gingerbread house competition... It started off innocent enough, but then the icing turned against us. ๐Ÿคฆโ€โ™€๏ธ Apparently, it had other plans for the season! ๐Ÿ˜… But did that stop our amazing staff? Absolutely not! They got *creative* and made it work. We saw houses held together with gumdrops, candy canes, marshmallows, duct tape, napkins (yep, really), bananas (yes, bananas!), and of course, a little *holiday magic* sprinkled in. ๐Ÿ’ซ

It was like a gingerbread house demolition derby mixed with an art showโ€”lots of laughs, plenty of questionable design choices, and more โ€œhow did that even work?!โ€ moments than we could count.

Valor came to DRU, successfully passed his evaluation with our staff, completed his medical care, and was ready to start the next chapter of his life. That chapter begins today with Katie, a previous DRU adopter who is no stranger to opening her heart and home to a Doberman in need. โค๏ธ

Tulip came to DRU from California about seven months ago after being found as a stray โ€” and today, her new journey begins! Sheโ€™s officially headed home with her forever dad, Wayne, who loves the breed, is a former Dobe owner, and is now a proud first-time DRU adopter.

Little does Tulip know that she wonโ€™t just be a spoiled girlโ€ฆ Wayne is putting her to work as his partner in his towing business! Sheโ€™ll be by his side 24/7, riding shotgun as the perfect passenger in his fancy truck, and meeting more people than she could ever imagine. Since she loves people and attention, sheโ€™s going to shine as his new perfect companion by his side.

๐Ÿ’™ ๐‡๐š๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ฒ ๐€๐๐จ๐ฉ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐ƒ๐š๐ฒ, ๐๐ฅ๐ฎ! ๐Ÿ’™

Blu came to DRU from a Texas shelter after being surrendered due to housing and landlord issues. He joined us in August, and today we get to celebrate his new beginning!

His adopter, Stephen, is a first-time DRU adopter, and when applying to adopt he had no preference for color, ears, or tailโ€”he simply wanted the right match. And Blu turned out to be the perfect fit!

Stephen was looking for a companion who could join him on daily walks, visits to the local park, weekend hikes, camping trips, and outings to dog-friendly spots. He also hoped for a dog who would enjoy taking training classes together. ๐๐ฅ๐ฎ ๐œ๐ก๐ž๐œ๐ค๐ž๐ ๐ž๐ฏ๐ž๐ซ๐ฒ ๐›๐จ๐ฑ!

What a wonderful forever match for both Blu and his new dad, Stephen. And the best part? Blu is staying local, so we can hear all about his fun adventures!
