FIRST DAY SAFE, VET CHECKUP
Our new intake got checked over by our fantastic veterinarian today. Good news is, he’s gentle and “pasture sound.” (Love that term!). Bad news is, he’s emaciated because he was starving. No other reason…just lack of appropriate care and suitable feed. He’s too thin to have his teeth floated - which he needs badly. So we’ll keep his nutritional needs met with a safe refeeding program and watch him gain for a few months. He’s begun a PowerPack deworming regimen which should also help. I’ve moved him to the new pasture and shelter where he can graze all day and I can feed him his forage soup 4 times a day. NEW INTAKE
This lucky rooster, who was supposed to be a hen, joined the big bachelor flock at Barnyard Sanctuary. The HMO of his neighborhood said that this Cock-a-Doodle Roo had to goooo! His family took the time to find him a safe future with us. Welcome big guy.

DID YOU EAT TODAY?
Can you even imagine sitting down to a meal knowing that this helpless animal was starving, captive in your care?? Well, some heartless human did just that. Many, many times. Honestly, I have no idea how long it takes for a horse to get this emaciated but I’m guessing it doesn’t happen quickly. And I sure do know how long and hard it is to get them back to good health and weight. My feelings toward anyone who would neglect an animal like this aside, he’s here now and he is going to be an expensive save. (As is the next one in line, a paint with a nasty neck wound.). I’ve started this guy on a conservative refeeding program and our veterinary team will evaluate him tomorrow. He does have an issue with his left rear foot that will likely need special attention. I’m pretty sure his teeth need floating. In spite of how awful humans have been to him, he is still trusting and willing. Please help me give this guy and the next one that needs us what they need. WE LOVE OUR MATHIS TRACTOR SUPPLY COMPANY!!
Our Community just keeps on amazing us with their generosity! Our favorite TSC manager of all time asked if we’d like some discontinued horse feed and dog food. We said “OF COURSE, YOU AMAZING HUMAN YOU!!” Our poor little rescue struggles daily…more than you can imagine…and thoughtful donations like this make our spirits soar as well as keep our critters’ bellies full. Thank You, TSC. And THANK YOU KATIE!

ADOPTED, ADOPTED, ADOPTED!
Four lucky, lucky equine left Barnyard Sanctuary today to begin their new lives. These babies are joining several other Barnyard adoptees at a gorgeous, spacious, and fantastic home. Their new Mom is a “frequent adopter” whose Birthday wish was for MORE PONIES! She’s our kind of lady and she is pre-approved to adopt anybody she wants! We are always so thrilled when she agrees to welcome any of our rescues into her family. Happy lives sweet ones! Happy Birthday!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
These TSC gift cards from our Amazon WishList are such a blessing to us. I just wish we knew who sent these but there was no note in the box with them. We always like to let you know how very grateful we are…and we definitely are! Molly got her special Alfalfa/Orchard forage and the baby ducks got fresh shavings and we have plenty left over for the next trip! Thank you SO MUCH!!

OH, FED EX!
Try harder. There is an identical box on the right side of the driveway. It’s the empty one that the notes ask you to use. It’s the perfect size for boxes like this. It has no dirt in it. It has no plant in it. It even has a neat plastic liner to keep packages clean and ant-free. (I am grateful, however, that they stopped yeeting the boxes over the fence for the goats and cows to destroy.) Nothing is easy these days.
