Here are our little in home animal sanctuary, we want to be more than just a safe place for animals to live out their lives. We want to offer the animals the best lives that we can. Whats the next step beyond a safe home and food?.... Enrichment. There are many ways to provide enrichment. I've been thinking about it for quite some time, now that its warm out. We aim to start providing outdoor time to our animals.

Hank and Hulk are the first ones to get this opportunity. They are a grazing animal and our local plants are a great source of nutrients for them. Ive been slipping in a little local flora into their feed so they are used to it by now.

An update on the mystery snails. Last night a snail way laying either the 7th or 8th clutch of eggs. They are spawning like crazy. In the first pic you can see from left to right. A baby snail, my index finger tip, a 3/4ths grown snail. These babies are tiny.

I do want to share that I am not sure of the fertile and survival rate of our snails, there should be well over 100 babies hatched, but ive only seen around 10 or so. They are tiny and there is plenty of room for them to hide so only time will tell.

When i first acquired the snails i decided to put then in my tank I use to grow water lettuce. Its a 10 gallon tank and there is zero filtration in this tank. That was no problem for 6 snails. However if 100s of babies are born the water will quickly become toxic. So I made the decision to add this tank to my main system, instead of 10 gallon its now part of a continuously cycling 2500+ gallon system. The very last pic is part of the overflow unit I built for this tank.

Also included a few pics of the latest batch of bristlenose plecos born. I've seen a few that are very red in color. Looking forward to continue the breeding process to see how many varieties we can discover.

The mystery snails have gone nuts. Here is a female in the middle of laying eggs. This will make the 3rd clutch of eggs in 3 days. They take 10-28 days to hatch, depending on temps and humidity. I will keep posting updates on the incoming Snail-mageddon. We are going to need a bigger tank.

Id like to take a moment and introduce everyone to one of the coolest little dudes ive ever met. Meet Buddy the bearded dragon. Buddy was rehomed to us this past week. These previous owner rescued this guy a year ago and has done a phenomenal job caring fir Buddy. She was also generous enough to donate and enclosure, heat lamp food&water bowls, as well as some food. So thank you so much Gail Becraft, for thinking of us and having faith if our ability. We will do the best we can for Buddy.

She also gave us abound a dozen or so fish for our outdoor pool converted pond. There are no predators in there, but there is a bunch of plant matter to eat. so they will be just fine.

Massive clutch of mystery snail eggs. I put these snails in a tank that we use to grow water lettuce, so its full of plant matter and mostly green looking. Was hoping for a spawn but did not expect this big of a clutch. There is easily 100 eggs here. Even though hatched snails spend their lives underwater, Mystery snail eggs cant be under water, they will drown. However if they dry out, they will die. So they must be kept in a non submerged, moist, humid area until they hatch.

Male bristlenose guarding his cave that is full of eggs. The male will choose a suitable cave and then present himself in front to lure a female in. She deposits the eggs and leaves. The male will then fertilize and guard the eggs. He continues guarding the fry until they are ready to leave. It is possible for multiple females to deposit eggs during the same cycle. Will post a video of the male fanning his fins. They do this to keep water movement over the eggs.

What's this?? A baby albino bristlenose pleco. Whats extra cool about this, is that its our first ever 2nd generation spawn. Looking forward to finding more of these around the tank. It was discovered in the 300 so finding fish this small in that big tank is like a needle in a haystack.
