*UPDATE* a kind citizen has offered to sponsor Sammie’s adoption fee for the right home**

Negative comments will be deleted, while we are understanding of how people feel about these types of situations. They will not make the situation change and we are looking to help Sammie find a new home and or rescue to take him in*

Owner Surrender:

Sammie is a 9 year old DSH, Russian blue mix who was surrendered to the shelter due to his owners living situation changing and being unable to provide for him.

Sammie has lived alone with his former owner who was a single male and is used to a quiet and simple life. He is is unfortunately not thriving in the shelter environment due to this and needs a foster home or an adopter.

He has never been around dogs or other cats nor has he been around children.

ADOPTED
UPDATE: ADOPTION FEE $0 (if adopted together)
In an effort to get these boys out of the shelter and to keep them together, Friends of Glenpool Shelter will sponsor half of the adoption fee. Braidee and Betsy have offered to pay the balance (for approved applicant)

Front DECLAWED brothers:
Can you imagine living with a family for 6 1/2 years and then being dropped off in a crowded shelter? Oh, how confused and heartbroken these two boys must have been. Seventeen pound Paris and 22lb Percy are a strongly bonded pair. They are friendly, love pets, chill and would love to be adopted together, but that is not necessary. Both are front paw declawed and MUST be inside only cats. To meet either, or boGlenpool Animal Control & Shelter& Shelter (918)322-8110.
At shelter since 11/02/24

🆘We have several cats that are in desperate need for BARN HOMES!🆘

Sadly, a colony caretakers health has declined and they have reached out for help. These cats are semi feral and warm up slowly.

Barn homes help save lives and while CAC supports responsible colony caregivers and TVNR (trap, neuter/spay, vaccinate and return) there are situations where it is not safe for cats to be returned for specific reasons and this is always a last resort.

We currently have 10 cats needing homes (feral cats do not belong in a shelter setting as they will not do well)

I would like to get a list together so that we can contact individuals who are able to take 2 cats at once, however one at a time is also an option)

Barn home cats are working cats

What’s this entail?

No adoption fee (for approved adopters)

All cats are spayed/neutered/vaccinated/ear tipped

Working cats to help with natural pest control!

Bitsy is our longest stay cat. She was surrendered in February and has not had a single adoption application. 😔

Bitsy is 10+ years old, and despite her grumpy face…she is actually a sweet girl. She is not a very active or overly affectionate cat. She just likes being left alone to nap and explore in the evening hours. She would love a quiet household with a scratch post/cat tree for her to lounge on.

Can you open your home to Bitsy?

3 kittens

After their 3 day stray hold they are available for adoption

*this litter is from an area that the shelter and rescues are working on due to the multiple adult cats that are feral and unsocial but kittens are friendly.

All adult cats will be altered after they are trapped.

The shelter is FULL, we weren’t expecting these kitten and our adoptions are LOW!

We need rescues to pull and or adopters ☹️😭

When you decide to release “in memory of" balloons, they don’t go where you hope and think they will. They usually end up in a field where livestock are. Often, young calves or goats will chew on/eat the balloons…

Ingesting plastic such as a trash bag or a balloon can cause intestinal blockage in animals. This may cause starvation. Some livestock may even choke on the balloon, causing a very painful death.

For wildlife and even PETS, they can become entangled in the balloon strings, causing them not to be able to move or even strangling them.

I understand the sentiment behind releasing balloons and the grief felt from losing a loved one. BUT there are so many other options!

- Plant a flower garden or make a rock garden in memory of a loved one.
- Plant a tree and watch it grow.
- Host an “In Memory” Celebration WITHOUT releasing balloons.
- Name a star.

Remember: releasing balloons may give you a moment of comfort, but somebody else may be hurt by the consequences.

EDIT TO ADD: This goes for trash bags as well. Please, don't dump out trash on the road side!
