This video is a few weeks old and is of the little boy puppy we took in...and was hoping could stay...that carried for IVDD. He stayed here about a month while we tried to get him to accept love. Eventually, we got him to wag his tail and stop shivering...and he even got to where he would come up to us instead of cowering in the back of his playpen all the time. It took him quite a bit of time before he'd chew on a hoof or puppy rings. We only saw him play with a crinkle toy once. After two weeks of quarantine (to make sure he did not carry anything contagious) we put him with the other puppies and, it took him a little while, but he eventually played. We all spent innumerable hours trying to get this boy adjusted to human touch, but he never did learn to give kisses or be completely relaxed with humans. When the breeder who traded for him got him his nails were so long he obviously had never had them trimmed. She trimmed them before Tim got there to pick him up. His under belly was soaked in f***l matter and urine, his p***s had at least 3 inches of urine crusted hair hanging off it, both ears were full of nastiness and infected. His face had never been trimmed away from his eyes and the goop coming from his eyes was so matted into the hair when I tried to clean it off it pulled off scabs. It took weeks before we could get him to use a potty pad instead of just laying on his bed and relieving himself there. Never in my life have a received a pup in such a horrible state. Both the breeder who traded for him and we were beyond shocked. And just sickened. I have been told that the breeder who had him has written a book about Tzu, has been breeding for decades, and pretty much professes to know everything about Tzu and their care. If you are looking for a puppy please understand that the length of time a breeder has been breeding means NOTHING. No writings, awards, positive AKC Compliance reports, recommendations, or any other thing makes them a reputable or good breeder. The puppies will tell you everything you need to know. No breeder is perfect; but, no puppy should be totally afraid of human touch and if it is, it tells you that puppy was not responsibly raised. When I took this video we'd had this little man almost a week and had been trying to get him to accept love that whole time. 😢 Besides being cautious of scammers people need to be cautious of horrible breeders so that they will eventually get discouraged and stop breeding. Besides being money hungry, refusing to do health tests before putting two dogs w***y nilly together, this breeder put absolutely no effort in to this little man and that is wrong on so many levels. When looking for a pup be sure to seek one out who knows, and accepts human love...one who is familiar with grooming and other care...one who understands what toys and chews are for. Please stop supporting people who call themselves breeders yet refuse to accept the responsibility that one has. 😢
