We are SO happy that SFAAR Clinic will remain open through 2018 to offer low cost spay/neutering! We received a MUCH NEEDED sizable donation from Charles S. and Bennetta B. Schramm Donor-Advised Endowment Fund. This enabled us to stay in business through 2018. Please add SFAAR to your list for year-end donations! Thank you : )

On March 19, 2017 I received the very sad news that Van Langston, a dear friend of all of us at SFAAR and Chief Financial Officer of SFAAR had passed away from cancer.
Van cared deeply about the welfare of all animals. In particular, he loved cats. He was a very dear friend of my mother's, Olga Matheu, founder of SFAAR. For many years, anytime there was a need for something to be fixed at the SFAAR clinic, Van volunteered to take care of it.
His kind, caring, helpful nature made him a very special person.
Van is survived by his loving wife Ginger and two grown sons. Ginger shared the love of cats with Van and she volunteered at the SFAAR clinic also.
Van is now at peace; he will be remembered always.

Three dogs lost since SEPT, surviving on Mt. Umunhum are back with their owner! Amazing pups survived the cold, rain, mountain lions... What a happy ending!

Update (Saturday 2:15PM). All three dogs have been picked up from the shelter.

UPDATE!! Owner has been located in less than 12 hours! Thanks everyone.

Umunhum fans, we need your help. Please share this post. These brave dogs have been lost and seen several times roaming Mt. Umunhum ever since the Loma Fire on September 25, 2016 (4.5 months ago!). The wonderful Rangers and Maintenance crew at Midpeninsula Regional Open Space District managed to catch the dogs today up at the historic Radar Tower on the summit of Mount Umunhum. They have been taken to the Santa Clara County animal shelter in San Martin (408) 686-3900. We suspect they have been displaced by the Loma Fire. One is a Great Pyrenees and other two are dark (brown an black) color (not sure of the exact breed). Please help us find their owners.

Here's the three links to the dogs at the shelter.

https://goo.gl/LCq3Pl (Male Black Labrador Retriever)
https://goo.gl/B9DJbs (Female tri-color Australian Cattle Dog)

UPDATE!! It appears the owners have been found! Thank you to all of you who help share this. Seems one of the people this post "reached" knew the owner (not sure if all three dogs belong to them or not), but the owner will be contacting the shelter this morning to arrange for pickup. What a happy ending!
