A recent visitor, Chris Abbot, said he was shocked that anyone would pay for this service.
I am not surprised. This isn’t a service that’s been offered, seriously, in Colorado before. As a result, people have become used to taking time off work during the week or trying to find vets with Saturday hours to get their pet necessary care; scheduling an extra hour every morning, or a few times a week, to get Cooper to day camp or training; balancing trip planning to include time to get Lucy to the boarder.
We do all of that, and more. We do EVERYTHING pets!
This was my response:
Do you think so? How much does it cost to take time off of work to take your best friend to the vet? Daycares charge a dollar a minute past closing—- what if you’re stuck in traffic and may be hours late?
Many retirement communities allow pets, yet all come to a point when they can no longer drive. Will you take time from your life to take grandma’s dog to the groomer every month?
We’ve had all these scenarios, and so many more... pets adopted from out of state that we’ve helped get from the airport to their new homes; disabled vets whose elderly pets suddenly became immobile... we stretcher carried a 120 # chocolate lab whose legs gave out. His owner could drive, but couldn’t get Hank to move... we got him to the hospital.
We also save frequent travelers time (thus money) by picking their pals up and taking them to boarding facilities (and visa versa) ... that can save someone a couple of hours (and money, and stress). And if someone has delayed travel, we pick the pets up (before the boarder closes, saving an overnight fee!) and bring them home.
Our greatest strength is post surgically. Many animals require overnight observation after surgery, yet most surgical offices do NOT provide this required service.... these animals must be moved shortly after surgery somewhere else. We help in every step of that process, including a ride along vet tech (when necessary), doctor to doctor delivery, paperwork transfer and follow up.
I hope that addresses your question.
