It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to one of the most beloved cats in the history of 13th St. Cat Rescue⦠Walter White.
For years, our sanctuary has been a safe haven for the harder-to-adopt cats we rescue. This safe space is cared for daily by dedicated volunteers who clean, feed, and spend time socializing the cats who call it home. Most of these cats remain semi-feral, and while many never become comfortable with human touch, they are deeply loved and cherished all the same.
Among them, Walter White was truly unforgettable.
Walter came to us as a young feral cat suffering from ear cancer. After surgery and years of loving care, he thrived for more than five wonderful years in the sanctuary. Though he never allowed us to handle him, he made his personality known every single day. He greeted us for treats and Churus as if he had never been fed before, charmed volunteers with his antics, and was almost always surrounded by his devoted "harem" of girl cats. He had an entire fan base of people who adored him from afar.
A few weeks ago, Walter became very ill, and we learned that his cancer had returned. The kindest gift we could give him was a peaceful goodbye.
The loss of Walter has left an enormous emptiness in the sanctuary. His absence is felt not only by the people who loved him, but by the cats who shared their home with him. The sanctuary simply does not feel the same without his larger-than-life presence.
We do not ask for fundraising support lightly, but caring for cats like Walter requires ongoing medical care, food, shelter, and resources. To continue helping the cats who still depend on us, we are reaching out to our community for support during this difficult time: https://www.facebook.com/donate/27197042769951333/
Thank you for loving Walter with us, and thank you for helping us continue caring for the cats who need us most. ā¤
