Ever wonder where your old sneakers go?

And what do they have to do with dogs?

These photos are from a secondhand marketplace here in Vietnam.

The sneakers we collect don’t just get thrown away—they’re sent to other countries, where they’re sold in local markets and given a whole new life. In many cases, they even help people start small businesses.

At the same time, we fundraise and donate the proceeds to organizations that rescue and care for dogs 🐶🎾

That’s why I’m collecting sneakers for Dinking for Dogs
Less waste, more impact—and a way to help both people and dogs at the same time.

We collected over 100 pairs of sneakers on Saturday and are excited to share that Hugs for Harry has moved from Orinda to a beautiful new facility in Lafayette 🐶💛

All sneakers have been sent to our recycling partner Recycle Sneaker Project keeping shoes out of landfills while supporting senior dogs. ♻️🐾

Over the weekend, Dinking for Dogs partnered with Hugs for Harry in Orinda and collected 200+ pairs of sneakers for their newly formed senior-dog rescue. 🐾👟

These donated sneakers will be recycled and transformed into funding that supports medical care, food, and safe housing for senior dogs in need.

Huge thanks to everyone who donated, spread the word, and helped introduce our community to Hugs for Harry. This is how small actions turn into big impact.

Lizzie is a 13-year-old terrier/maltese mix, and her parents are part of an incredible, healthy pickleball community at their local recreation center — a group filled with energy, laughter, and genuine connection. This group has brought so much camaraderie, compassion, and laughter to the senior community, both on and off the courts.

Thank you to everyone who donated sneakers and helped make a difference. Your generosity helps ensure that seniors — both human and canine — can continue to live healthy, connected, and happy lives throughout their golden years.
