2 dog comparison with the Belgian Malinois breed.(both pure bred dogs)
Logan, left, intact male 1 yr old. Pet quality Malinois.
Ellie, right, spayed female, 2 yrs old. Working line Malinois
Logan - sweet, affectionate, friendly with dogs and people, med prey drive towards cats, chickens, squirrels. (Easily called off of prey) loves playing with toys, especially squeaky balls, will shred stuffed toys. Likes to work but loves to play. Easily contained in simple wire or plastic crate. Food driven. A good dog for an experienced dog owner.
Ellie - sweet and affectionate towards people she trusts, takes time to trust some other dogs, extremely high drive, cannot be easily called off prey (even w/ ecollar), loves to bite, loves tug toys, nibbles and cuddles stuffies, will nibble and suck on towels, cannot focus when food is present, loves to work in obedience, bite work and problem solve. Will climb a tree, toy structure, jump on a car or jump in a pile of rubbish for her toy. Has destroyed 2 plastic airline crates and must be in an indestructible crate. Toy rewards mean more than food. I will be forever thankful to Ellie for constantly challenging me to be creative for her and she has taught me alot about a high drive dog.
Both are nice dogs that crave attention from their people but have different needs. If misunderstood or needs are neglected, both could become bored, which results in anxiety and destruction.
Because dogs can adjust to their environments, they do not always behave the same in every home. Please research the breed you are interested in. If possible, spend time with them prior to adopting or purchasing and be the owner your dog deserves.β€πΎ
