Hannah & Thomas came back out to pick up Arlo today. Arlo is an AKC Golden Retriever puppy. His weight had doubled since they saw him a couple weeks ago to more than 14 pounds. His mom, Star, and dad, Duke, were on hand to send him off. Duke is the larger, cream colored dog whereas Star is more blonde or beige colored in some of the photos. Duke is about 90 pounds so Arlo could be his size or larger as Star's father, Max, is 100 pounds.
This family is dedicated to welcoming their new puppy. Thomas took two weeks vacation so he could stay at home with Arlo. Half of Star and Duke's litter has now gone to their forever homes. We have a few boys and girls remaining. We also have puppies from younger litters available. All puppies have championship pedigrees per k9data.com.
All puppies have been or will go to our vet twice for brief exams, age-appropriate vaccinations, and deworming before they go home. Before we breed the parents, we put them through our health-screening process which includes OFA reviews of their hips and elbows. We also check the parent's DNA against a DNA Golden Retriever Disorder test.

These are some pictures of Star & Duke's AKC Golden Retriever puppies when I weighed them and put the collars on a day short of four weeks old. The first one is a boy and the runt of the litter. He has a gray collar and weighed 2.9 pounds.ounces. The next is the boy with the black collar who weighed 5.2.
Next there is the largest girl and largest of the litter as of that date, the girl with the light blue collar weighing 6.8. Her sister with the pink collar weighed 5.8, followed by the girl with the yellow collar at 6.1.
Finally, there is the boy with the dark green collar weighing in at
5.14. He is one of the lighter puppies, I would call a cream color like his dad, Duke.

Both parents have been through our health screening process to try and minimize the chance of passing several known disorders of the golden retriever breed. This includes X-rays and OFA certificates that they are free of hip and elbow dysplasia. We also run their DNBA against a DNA disorder panel to check for several disorders with known DNA markers. These pups went to our vet yesterday for their first exam, parvo vaccination and deworming.
They will have a second vet visit before they go home in a few weeks. They are priced at $500 based on the above.

These are Montana & Duke's AKC Golden Retriever girls. They are a day short of 4 weeks old, ranging from 3 to 5 pounds in the case of the girl with the light blue collar.
Montana and Duke are cream colored so their puppies are the same. We have a total of 6 girls and 4 boys available. Both parents have been through our health screening process which includes OFA X-rays of hips and elbows and a DNA test screening out several known golden retriever disorders with known genetic markers. Both parents were all clear on the DNA disorder test so we expect the puppies will be the same. Montana is rated excellent on her hips by OFA, Duke is rated Good. Both have normal elbows, the highest elbows rating.

The LeGrand family came out today to pick up Birdie an AKC
Golden Retriever out of Star and Duke. She will likely be light colored like her mother Star who we describe as beige, although Star is darker on her ears, the end of her tail, and the back of her hind legs, almost golden like her mother Reagan in those highlight areas.
Birdie was weighing over 12 1/2 pounds today, up almost 2 pounds since her vet visit on Tuesday. They felt she looked very healthy. I am sure she will have lots of love and playtime with her new family.
We have several of Birdie's siblings available for adoption. We also have some cream puppies out of Montana & Duke that are about half Birdie's size, partly because they were born nine days later.
All parents have championship pedigrees per k9data.com. We put the parents through our health screening process which includes OFA X-ray certifications that they are free of dysplasia and a DNA Disorder test. Having bought inexpensive goldens in our early years and experienced the pain and large surprise vet bills, we do the health-screening to lessen the chance of several known disorders being bred into our puppies.

Jeff & Danielle called about coming out and getting an AKC Golden Retriever girl puppy and taking it home today, before his tee time this afternoon. We were able to make it work. They selected Luna out of Star's litter who is 12+ pounds. She is actually the smallest girl out of that litter.
The mother Star is on the right side of the pictures. Our Great Pyrenees Buddy who is kind of our volunteer watchdog, who decided to get in on the action, he is standing on the left side.
They met Duke, the father earlier, but he is not in these pictures.
We still have a few boys and girls left out of Star & Duke's litter.
Most will be close to her color although one girl may be cream colored like Duke. In addition to Star's litter, we also have several puppies out of Montana and Duke that are cream colored. They are nine days younger. We also have a smaller litter of six puppies out of Reagan and Duke that will be four weeks old on Friday and can start meeting people once they reach four weeks of age. One of Reagan's boys appears to be golden color or darker - the rest are probably closer to Star's color.
Having had the experience of buying inexpensive goldens and gotten some huge vet bills to go with them, we health screen all our parents to lessen the chance that they will pass on to their puppies several of the known health disorders common to Golden Retrievers. This includes OFA X-rays to verify they are free of hip and elbow dysplasia and a DNA test by Animal Genetics that identifies several known DNA markers for disorders common to the breed. Only parents who pass our screening standards are bred.
All puppies go to our vet twice for brief exams, age-appropriate vaccinations and deworming before they are cleared to go to their forever homes. Montana's puppies have their second appointment
this Thursday.

Austin met us at the vet yesterday to pick up Ellie Grace out of Montana and Duke. She is a cream colored AKC Golden Retriever puppy. She is going to the King family here in Valley View, TX so we hope to continue to see her as she grows up. The pictures below are her nine siblings. This was their second visit to our vet for a brief exam, age-appropriate vaccinations, and deworming.
One of her brothers is leaving this afternoon. We have several of her siblings available for adoption. Both parents have championship pedigrees per k9data.com. Both parents have been through our health screening process which includes DNA testing and OFA X-ray exams that show no dysplasia in the hips and elbows. Dysplasia is common in golden retrievers, especially if the dog's parents were not previously checked. It leads to early lameness - think of arthritis in the leg joints.

The Frasers came back out today to pick up Tofu. His weight had more than doubled since they were here almost two weeks ago.
His mom, Montana, and father, Duke, wanted to be part of the send off. Both are cream colored AKC Golden Retrievers. The two pictures of the puppies in tubs are Tofu and his siblings at the vet for their second check-up, vaccinations, and de-worming yesterday. Almost all had at least doubled their weight in two weeks. I also included some early photos of Tofu and the Frasers during their first visit.
We have some boys and girls available. For the first time in a long time, Montana's litter had more girls than boys. All are cream colored puppies.
Both parents have championship pedigrees per k9data.com. We health-screen all our dogs and only breed the ones that pass.
Hopefully that minimizes the chance that the puppies will have one or more health disorders common to the breed which can lead to large vet bills and/or lameness or blindness. We have OFA certificates showing Montana and Duke are clear of dysplasia in their hips and elbows. We also run a DNA test against the parents to screen out several know disorders with DNA markers.
