Hi, I’m Cooper, a 1-year-old boy—and yep, I flew all the way from Qatar to find my forever family here in the Bay Area! If you’ve ever wished you could have the loyal, affectionate heart of a golden retriever in cat form, that’s me.

The second you walk in the door, I’ll be there to greet you, weaving between your legs, rubbing my head on you again and again, and following you from room to room so closely that you might almost trip over me. I just always want to be near my person. At night, I’ll glue myself to your side—sometimes sleeping on your chest, sometimes using your feet as a pillow—but always touching you. If you move, I move. That’s how devoted I am.

I’m a master biscuit-maker, turning your legs into my favorite kneading spot. Even during playtime, if I see an outstretched hand, I pause and melt into pets and cuddles instead. Paper bags are my toy of choice, though food is a big motivator for me too.

I can be a little shy when meeting new people in big groups, but give me a quiet moment one-on-one and I warm up quickly. I’m still adjusting to some apartment noises (upstairs neighbors are strange!) but sirens and traffic don’t bother me at all.

I’m affectionate, playful, and loyal—and I’d be just as happy going solo as I would with a feline friend. If you’re looking for a golden-hearted sidekick who’ll stick by your feet and love you endlessly, I’m your guy.

Well hello there—Danny here, reporting for cuddle duty. I may be 14 years, but I still know how to have a good time. Hand me a toy mouse or wave a feather wand and you’ll see me channel my inner kitten, chasing, pouncing, and batting like a pro.

I came to Give Me Shelter after my beloved person passed away. It was a big change for me, but I’ve kept my gentle spirit and my love for companionship. My favorite spot? Curled up right next to you in bed at night, purring us both into sweet dreams. During the day, I’m a mellow, independent guy who’s perfectly content holding down the fort while you’re out. When you return, I’ll be right there to greet you with my sweet, squeaky little meow (and maybe a hopeful look toward the food bowl).

I’m polite, affectionate, and just a little silly—sometimes I give gentle love nibbles when you pet me, my quirky way of saying you’re my person. I enjoy both wet and dry food, and while I might try to convince you to share your dinner, you and I both know my meals are the healthiest bet.

If you’re looking for a calm, loving companion who still knows how to play—and who will always save you a warm spot in bed—I think we’d make the purrfect pair.

Hi, I’m Maya — a 3-year-old little cat with a big story. I was born on the streets of Bulgaria 🇧🇬, where life isn’t easy for kittens like me. When I was just a few months old, I was badly injured, possibly from a dog attack. For a while, no one knew if I would survive. But with weeks of care, love, and a fighting spirit, I pulled through.

Now I wear a small scar on my face, but it’s just a reminder of how far I’ve come. It doesn’t stop me from eating neatly, chasing toys, leaping up to the tallest cupboards, or curling up close for snuggles. I’m a little shy in new places, but once I trust you, I’ll meet your eyes when you call my name and happily soak up every gentle pet and cuddle.

I’d do best with someone who has time to keep me company, or with a nurturing kitty friend. I can spend some time alone, but what I really love is 1:1 time with my person — your touch and love help me feel safe and even encourage me to eat more.

From the streets of Bulgaria to a foster home in San Francisco, my journey has been long, but it’s led me here — ready for a forever family who will see not just my scar, but my heart. Could that be you?

Hey there, I’m Monty—a sweet, chunky, playful 1-year-old guy with a heart as big as my paws. I may take a little time to warm up, but once I trust you? I’m all in for head rubs, cheek scratches, and especially brush time (which I might try to turn into playtime—brushes are just sneaky toys, right?).

From the moment I stepped out of my crate, I’ve been brave and curious—ready to explore, snack, and zoom my way around the house. I love feathers, toy mice, and showing off my playful side.

I’m a proud FIP survivor, healthy and thriving now, full of energy and ready for my next adventure. I beat the odds, and now I’m ready to spend the rest of my nine lives snuggling, playing, and enjoying all the snacks.

I’m Max, the 1-year-old creamy orange tabby boy with an ameowzing purr and a lot to say. I’ve got a big puurrsonality and an even bigger heart, and I like to make sure you know exactly how I’m feeling at all times. (Spoiler alert: it’s usually “hungry for Churu” or “ready for snuggles.”)

I’m the more outgoing half of a bonded pair—my brother Niko is my quieter sidekick and forever wrestling partner. I love a good round of zoomies, and nothing beats a full-on brother chase session through the hallway. Once we’ve burned off our energy, we’re all about curling up together in a warm pile of fur.

I love being held and will melt into your arms while revving up my signature thunder-purr. I’ll follow you from room to room like a little orange shadow, narrating my every step.

I’m Niko. I might not burst into the room like my brother Max, but give me a little time and a lot of love, and you’ll see me start to shine. I’m a sleek little mini panther with big golden eyes, a gentle heart, and a sweet, shy spirit just waiting to blossom.

I’m the quieter half of our bonded pair, the yin to Max’s zoomy yang. Where he’s bold and chatty, I’m soft-spoken and thoughtful. I like to observe from a cozy corner, warm up at my own pace, and once I feel safe—watch out—I’m ready for head scritches, slow blinks, and deep purrs. I’m still building my confidence, but it’s clear I’ve got “future lap cat” written all over me.

My favorite hobbies include: scratching my cardboard pad with great flair, napping in sunbeams, and chasing Max down the hallway like a tiny panther on a mission. We wrestle, we zoom, we nap tangled up like a heart-shaped puddle of fur. Max makes me feel brave, and I keep him grounded. We’re a purrfect pair—and we need to stay together.

Hi, I’m Ruby—a gentle little soul with a quiet heart and a whole lot of love to give. At 8 months old, I’ve already mastered the art of calm companionship and cozy cuddles.

I’m a bit shy at first, but give me a few days to settle in and I’ll start greeting you at the door like the loyal little sidekick I am. I’m not the type to cause chaos or bounce off the walls—instead, I prefer soft landings, quiet rooms, and curling up beside you while you wind down for the night.

I love having a feline friend! I bonded quickly with the resident cat in my foster home and would really love to have a playful buddy in my forever home too—someone to wrestle with when I get a burst of energy and nap beside when it’s time to recharge.

✈️ Welcome the 4 kitties who just arrived from Qatar! 🇶🇦🐱❤️

🤍 Cottontail: 1½-year-old female Van cat / Japanese Bobtail mix

These four traveled all the way from Qatar last week as part of a group of 16 cats who found rescue placements around the San Francisco Bay Area — giving them all a chance at a safe, loving home. 🇺🇸🌉🏡

Hi, I’m Daisy! 🌼 I came all the way from Oman to San Francisco to find my forever home, and let me tell you—I’m so ready to snuggle in and stay awhile.

I’m about 1.5 years old, curious, confident, and full of love. After a 36-hour journey across the globe, I only needed a quick catnap before I was exploring, playing, and rubbing up against my foster humans for attention. Brave? Absolutely. Charming? That too.

My favorite things? Snuggling up close, getting brushed, and purring non-stop while you give me head scritches. I’m also a total bedtime sweetheart—I’ll sleep next to you without a peep, keeping you company all night long without stealing the covers.

Playtime? Yes, please! I go wild for toys and can’t resist a Churu treat. I’m still young and love staying active with feather wands and whatever you’ve got on hand.

I may have only one eye, but trust me—it doesn’t slow me down one bit. I navigate life with confidence, curiosity, and plenty of zoomies.

One thing to know: I’m a bit of a snuggle hog. I’d prefer to be your one and only furry companion—I’m not too keen on sharing my humans (or their laps). But hey, more snuggles for both of us, right?

🥳Hooray! We’re celebrating the 10 kitties that we adopted out this past month! 🎊

Tabby kitten Milo has been waiting in foster for over 2 months, while the rest of his litter all got adopted. Recently, Milo became best buds with a newly rescued kitten, Andy, in his foster home. We’re so happy that they were adopted as a pair, and get to grow up and share the rest of their lives together! 👯

Teddy found his forever home right where he was - with his foster parents and resident kitty Stella 😻

Pawley, too, won over the hearts of his foster family, with his gentle and loving personality ❤️

Amy, an 8-year-old rare orange female, was originally adopted out from GMS a few years ago, but recently returned. Thankfully, she didn’t have to wait long before she found her forever home! 🧡

Nora was adopted by a previous GMS adopter and went home to GMS alum Opal! 😽

Izzy, now Crimson, has a bird friend in her forever home! 🦜
