When I first met Leo, he lunged and barked at the other dogs in his neighborhood, which made walking him way more stressful than it needed to be. He also lost his cool around crowds of people.⁠⠀
⁠⠀
Now he pretty much goes anywhere. He plays well at dog parks, walks calmly through crowded farmers markets, and strolls across Cabrillo Bridge on a busy afternoon like it's no big deal. And did I mention he's a joy to be around?

Moose couldn’t stop chasing leaves when I first met him. It seemed his sole mission was to keep track of all the leaves in the world and when the wind blew he’d dart around and grab each one. He couldn’t even walk by a stationary leaf without whining and pulling frantically toward it– he just had to get it! ⁠

Though it’s funny to think that Moose’s predisposition for herding cattle had expressed itself as a neurotic tendency to control the movement of leaves in the wind, these behaviors were understandably hard to live with. ⁠
⁠
And really, he’s way too smart to herd leaves all day. So my first order of business is to convince Moose there’s more to life than leaves!
