Irish Setter Club of San Diego For Owners and Friends of the Irish Setter breed. The Irish Setter Club of San Diego (ISCSD) was established in 1968 and incorporated in 1974.

We held our first banquet and installation of officers in January of 1969. Over the next 10 years, we held many fun matches; “ribbon” matches as they were known then. With our goal of holding an AKC sanctioned specialty and obedience trial in our sights, we began holding AKC B (OB) matches and finally our required AKC A (OA) match. We held our first AKC licensed specialty and obedience trial on Ma

y 16, 1980, with Irish Setter legend, Ted Eldridge, as our conformation judge. Since then, our club has continued to grow with the focus of protecting and advancing the interests of the Irish Setter. The club currently has meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at the Allied Gardens Recreation Center. Our specialty show is currently held in conjunction with the Silver Bay Kennel Club in February at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. Other fun activities for our members and their Irish Setters include marching in the San Diego St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Balboa Park, dog play-days and picnics, an annual Awards Banquet, and a great Christmas Party with a gift exchange that involves “stealing” others’ gifts! Many of our club members are also involved with obedience, agility, and rally performance events, which allow them to work closely and have a lot of fun with their dogs. The ISCSD is also involved with Rescue and works closely with the Irish Setter Club of America and Irish Setter Club of Southern California Rescue volunteers as well as local animal shelters; taking Irish Setters into the program and finding them a new “forever home” and family.

- She lost Ribbons September 6, two days before her twelfth birthday. Ribbons was loved, trained and owned by Ted and Sharon Rehmeyer. Ribbons came to her after Sharon’s passing in Winter 2021.

Aileen Frazier tells us Maverick finished his Championship. Yay!

Maverick is now Ch. Rusticwood Four Aces Pay The Gambler. At the Santa Ana Valley KC on Oct 1, 2022 Maverick was WD, BOW and BOB for a 4 pt major, his third major. The following day Oct 2 Maverick was WD and BOW for a 3 pt major, his fourth major. I am so proud of him. The drive home seemed much shorter and Maverick enjoyed a burger with a side of nuggets on the way.

Maverick won his first major from the puppy class at our ISCSD specialty show right before the Covid lockdown. His sire is GCh Jadestar Seven Card Stud, CD, RA, CGC owned by head cheerleader Linda Keenan. Dam is Ch Rusticwood Mystic Keepsake owned by Carolyn Dison. Breeders are Carolyn Dison, Ann S Smith & Amy Osowski
