Not our typical post but we wanted to share this fundraiser and story about our shop owners newest medical rescue at her sanctuary.
Please consider donating or sharing to help Ash and her nonprofit.
Meet Danny. On June 1st, we received call from a local avian and exotic animal hospital about a three month old baby emu who landed there with a broken leg and septic infection. The guardian of this emu was unable to pay for her life-saving measures, so we took a giant leap of faith and brought her in to our flock. But here’s the thing….we need your help because Danny is not out of the woods yet.
Danny’s care is specialized and thus extremely expensive. She’s already had one surgery to stabilize her broken leg, but she’s not out of the woods yet because she’s going to need another surgery soon. Currently, Danny goes to a weekly veterinary appointment to tighten the stabilizer/screws keeping her leg stable – this is extremely painful for her. Danny also requires daily wound and bandage changes, physical and cold laser therapy, and we’ve even made a special sling to keep her from putting pressure on her leg.
Danny’s next surgery requires a team of specialized veterinarians and surgical components which is VERY expensive. And although our veterinarian has offered us a significant discount in the cost of this surgery, this is where YOU come in. We need your financial support to help in Danny’s recovery because are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization who relies on the support of your donations, our community and our amazing volunteers.
