The Te Mana Story:
Jason and Marguerite Cruz are native San Diegans. Here they renovated their 1924 craftsman style home into an Island-style Café. Mana in Polynesian culture, means spiritual power or essence. Te Mana means "our power, our essence." The Cruz family has traveled in the islands of the Pacific and Caribbean, bringing the Aloha spirit back to the beach loving culture of San Diego. The Café served a variety of cocktails, local craft beer and wine, hand crafted coffee and tea beverages, hot or iced. The Cafe was locally famous for its pour over station for coffee libations and "coffee ice," ice cubes made of coffee to pump up the taste of iced beverages. The chef written menu included island inspired cuisine including Acai bowls, Hawaiian Plates with Kahlua Pork (wrapped in banana leaves and Hawaiian sea salt) or Island-Love Chicken (secret recipe), and amazing salads, pastries, smoothies and desserts. Live music was often enjoyed and Doggie Dinners were often served. Community meeting space and Lots of ALOHA made Te Mana Cafe the best choice in town. We were sad to say goodbye to our community as Covid19 took over. Te Mana Café was an Island Style café paying tribute to the Polynesian life style and Aloha. The conversion from house to café only seemed natural. Where there once was a bedroom, a dining area was made. The craftsman characteristics have all been restored and celebrated as Te Mana Café skillfully blended the antiquity of the home with the easy going life style of the islands. The tropical garden honored guests to come in and be part of it all. Truly a destination café, Te Mana Café was the “Locals choice!” and “Home of the natives,” offering the best coffees in town and serving traditional Hawaiian Plates, acai bowls and café fare. Te Mana Café offered more than meets the eye. Some would say Te Mana Café “specialized in serving a cup of Paradise with a Kahuna size slice of Aloha! “ We hope that you were able to come in and see for yourself. Kava was also served!! :)
