🐾 FOSTERS NEEDED — YOU CAN HELP MAKE ROOM! 🐾

San Diego Humane Society recently took in 23 adult Chihuahuas after their owner was evicted from a home in Imperial Beach. The dogs are currently receiving medical and behavioral evaluations and are not yet available for adoption.

But willing fosters can help right now. ❤️

SDHS is already significantly over capacity, and opening your home to another dog currently available for foster helps create much-needed space and resources for dogs coming into the shelter.

If you’re an experienced Chihuahua or small-dog foster, consider being flexible about which dog you foster. You may not be fostering one of these 23 Chihuahuas, but by taking another dog into your home, you are still part of helping make room for them.

🐶 One foster home can open one more space for a dog who needs it.

Come meet them at our 🐾🎃Howl-O-Ween Hounds Mega Pet™️ Adoption Event🎃🐾 at Grossmont Center La Mesa on October 10th from 11 AM–3 PM!

They are currently looking for fosters for these two young, small-breed males as they continue to work to save dogs from overcrowded shelters.

Mike Jack is a sweet old Mal waiting for someone to give him some time and a comfy bed. He had been at the shelter for months when finally someone adopted him. They retired him 2 weeks later. The reasons were many - likely to make sure SDHS took him. Reactive, not enough funds to care for him, er****on

No, I’m not making that up. There was something about an election while walking - maybe tied to some reactivity - whatever the reason that’s a new one for me. And that’s why I think they just made up every excuse they could think of when they got a dog they weren’t ready to commit to.

He needs a solid Mal or Dutchie home that can offer him a life for the remaining time he has. A home that won’t return hm. Who will love his quirky side and his old man vibes. Someone that wants to do right by a dog failed so badly.

Please don’t take on a dog if you’re not ready. Or simply because you feel bad for them. If this is someone you could live forever, he’s at the El Cajon campus San Diego Humane Society

🐾 THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHY THEY’RE HERE… 💔

These two beautiful dogs are sitting in a shelter right now, surrounded by unfamiliar sounds and faces. They don’t understand what happened or why the family and home they once knew are gone.

What they do know is that they’re waiting. ❤️
Waiting for someone to notice them.
Waiting for someone to choose them.

Waiting for a family to say, “You’re coming home with us.”

💗 Foster Needed for Lottie 💗

Lottie is a 2-year-old, 22-pound Chihuahua/Shar Pei mix who we rescued from a high-kill shelter. This sweet girl has been through an incredibly difficult journey and arrived to us absolutely terrified.

Right now, Lottie needs one thing more than anything: a patient, compassionate foster who will give her time to decompress and learn that she is finally safe. She wants to be loved—she just doesn’t quite know what that feels like yet. 💔

Lottie is very scared on a leash, so a calm and quiet home with a small, secure yard where she can potty while she builds confidence would be ideal. We also think a calm, confident dog in the home could help show her the way and encourage her to come out of her shell.

She doesn’t need someone to push her. She needs someone willing to give her space, kindness, consistency, and time.
