That’s a really long time, and sadly most people don’t realize this when buying pets as gifts for others. ⁠

In fact, according to PETA, a shelter in Fargo, North Dakota, reports that in its area, more than 700 animals are turned over to shelters right after the holidays every year. 🐶⁠

Another shelter in Idaho has asked that people don’t give pets as surprise gifts to others. ⁠
⁠
These are sad facts - but important to realize that a pet really is a commitment to training, food, and proper care. If you can’t commit, don’t adopt. ⁠

In 2011, there were 3.9 million dogs being placed in shelters each year.

Now, it’s 3.1 million! 🐶🐶

Today marks the month where we give thanks. ❤️

This year, Thanksgiving is celebrated by families all across America on the 25th of November, but we wanted to mark it a little earlier, too.

There are currently 89.7 million dogs in the USA. 3 million of these dogs enter shelters every single year. 🐶

Halloween can be an exciting time for you and your pet, but we recommend you make sure they’re comfortable in their clothes! ❤️

Whether they’re a hotdog, a bumblebee, or a pirate, ensure that they are comfortable in their costume. We recommend that it’s neither too loose nor too tight, but provides a safe, snug fit.

Don’t let your dog out of your sight while they’re dressed up, just in case something goes wrong!

Dog’s have EIGHTEEN muscles to control their ears!🐶🐶

That’s how their ears can wiggle SO much.

And, it’s great for communication!❤️

A lot of a dog’s body language is expressed through what their ears are doing so a dog’s ears are vital in helping them communicate both with us and other dogs.

Dogs have SUCH good noses, they can sniff out medical problems!🐶🐶

Yup, medical detection dogs are a thing.

Because their sense of smell is so great, some dogs can be trained to sniff out medical conditions. They are used to diagnose a particular condition or to alert their owners if they need more medication!
