Meet Macy!
Buckle up for this girls journey… Macy was transferred to our rescue less than 24 hours ago from the San Diego Humane Society. They had communicated with us that she was reactive, fearful, and potentially harmful. We have experience with dogs like this and so with open arms we took her into our care. When we brought her to our home last night, she refused to leave her transport crate. She growled and shook with fear and quickly we realized she was the worst case of reactivity we had ever experienced. This morning she had already bitten our owner on the hand 3 times and growled at anyone who came within 10 feet of her. One of our trainers and team members, Kitsy, sat with Macy to help her adjust to her new surroundings. Slowly but surely Macy began to soften to the idea that she was finally safe. In the span of an hour with Kitsy she went from sitting in a corner growling to then sitting on Kitsy’s lap and licking her face. Kitsy teared up from the exponential amount of progress made in such a short period of time. Now Macy has been playing in the yard, cuddling on the couch with our team and even playing with the other dogs. This is a huge win!
We know Macy will make the perfect friend for someone special! While she has made these big steps we believe she will need her owners to be assertive yet calm and patient. As we get to know Macy and as she gets to know us we have seen her incredible personality, her love for life and attention! Now that Macy has acclimated to us and knows she is safe, loved and protected she has warmed right up to being apart of the MBPR pack. She loves to cuddle up into your arms, receive lots of pets and belly rubs, and even give you kisses to show her love.
Swipe to the end to see a video of her cuddled up with the team!

Meet Radar!
Get ready for your hearts to melt over his story… Radar was found abandoned in a mall parking lot, when he was brought to safety at the San Diego Humane Society. There, upon further assessment they discovered that Radar is blind. The Humane Society reached out to us immediately because they knew Radar was going to need detailed and personalized attention. We accepted him without hesitation and he is now safe, warm and happy with one of our fosters.
Now with our rescue, Radar is receiving all the care he needs, including visits to the canine eye specialist, custom gear to help him navigate his surroundings and training specifically tailored for blind dogs.
Radar is a kind hearted little rascal who will play with you just as much as he would like to cuddle with you. He loves attention and will definitely need a lot of it in terms of his condition. Radar needs a calm home and even potentially another dog to help guide him through life. He is sweet, smart and full of a good heart!
Radar’s treatment is going to be a large cost to our rescue but that is what we do! However, we cannot do what we do without you! If you would like to donate to Radars medical costs, equipment and training fund you can visit the link in our bio for more information on where to give.

Meet Ted!
Boy, oh boy is this boy just the best! Ted is a gentle giant with a love for life and cuddles.
Him and his siblings lives started in a loving home with their mama who accidentally had this litter, but their real journey began when a tragic motorcycle accident took their owner, and that left their family without the means to care for them. With the local shelter full, the family was referred to Mission Bay Puppy Rescue, and we couldn’t say no. After a spirited, muddy bath that left them with gleaming coats, these puppies are now eager to find their forever homes. They’re a blend of the robust Alaskan Malamute and the loyal German Shepherd, meaning they boast a strong, energetic build and an intelligent, protective nature. As a large breed mix, they’ll thrive best in active homes that can offer regular exercise, training, and plenty of love. Now in our care they are ready for adoption and can’t wait to meet you!

Meet Nori! 🐠
If you want an intelligent, energetic, athletic and determined pup, then you’ve found your girl.
This sweet girl came to our rescue after the San Diego Humane Society called us to see if we could take her in! We immediately jumped into action when we saw that she was a Belgian Malinois. This breed has recently faced major return rates to shelters as owners will purchase a Malinois thinking they understand and can care for the breed until they realize truly what it takes. Here at Mission Bay Puppy Rescue we rescue ALL breeds of mamas and pups but Belgian Malinois hold a special place in our heart. We are one of the only rescues in San Diego who are able and willing to take on this type of breed and are committed to ensuring their adopters are fully aware of what they sign up for in adopting. With our rigorous application process and screening we have placed over one-hundred Belgian Malinois with their forever homes.
About Nori:
- 8 weeks old
- Belgian Malinois
- Female
Nori has received all vaccinations, is spayed and ready to find her new home!

Meet the Buddies Bundle! 🐾
They come from an unexpected beginning that now shines with a bright future. These pups were an unplanned litter of 10 puppies! Their mom and dad are beloved family dogs who happened really 🫣 like eachother. Though this litter was expected, their owner wanted the best for them. Overwhelmed and knowing they needed help, the owner reached out to Pitopotomus Rescue in Bakersfield, one of our trusted partner rescues, who save dogs in need. They transported them at the beginning of this week to the Mission Bay Puppy Rescue facility in San Diego where they are now ready to be adopted to their forever families! There are now 6 pups still available from this litter of 10, as 4 of these gentle giants have been adopted.
Note: we provided their original owners with spay/neuter for their family dogs so that this unexpected surprise doesn’t repeat itself.
About the Buddies Bundle:
- 10 weeks
- Lab, St. Bernard and Pit mixes

We love puppies and we love matching them to their new forever homes. Over the last 25 years we have had the joy of assisting rescue organization of matching pups with wonderful new families. The best part is that many of these families have become life long friends.
While it had been some time since we fostered puppies, when Covid 19 hit we knew that many rescues would be struggling to get their puppies and dogS adopted. Shelters and rescues were over run with dogs and pups. So we dusted off our puppies toys and fluffed the doggie beds and rolled up our sleeves and got to work. We even gave ourselves a new name.
After researching rescue organizations to partner with, we offered our help to Pups’N Boots, a small non-profit 501(c)(3) rescue organization. Their mission is to rescue mothers, their litters, and motherless litters from unsafe conditions.
Following a very rigorous process all our pups, moms and strays first visit the vet where they are tested for Parvo, Distemper, Coccidia and Giardiasis as well as tick born illnesses. The pups are also checked for flees, ticks and other skin conditions. Each dog is given a medicated bath, flee treatment and based on the age at time of rescue we begin their vaccination series and they begin a diet of a nutrient rich puppy food. If medication is required we begin that protocol through adoption and if needed provide the current medical treatments to the new adopting families to continue.
During Covid many vets were burdened to perform only emergency medical care, making our usual process of spaying and neutering the pups nearly impossible in Mexico and challenging in the States. During that time we offered a “voucher” that was reimbursed to the vet or the owner when they had completed their sterilization (before week 20). Covid 19 was and continues to be a trying time for all pet rescues, but we are committed to finding each pup their perfect forever home.
As restrictions are lifting we are now able to resume the spay/neuter program. Our pups and their mamas are spayed/neutered, have received their age appropriate vaccinationand are ready to become someones best friends.
When considering adopting from Mission Bay Puppy Rescue and Pups N Boots we wish to express to your our philosophy of pricing. We believe that all life has value! And while many may be looking to adopt a puppy for a “low price”, we believe that when an adopter is willing and able to “invest” into their pup that this is not a “whim purchase”, based on emotions (because face it puppies are so cute, and who can say no to them in that moment when they were not even looking to get a puppy) instead we want this to be a very serious, committed decision and when something costs a little bit more, you usually take better care of it.
We want everyone one (who is qualified) to have a forever dog to love, but some times we have to decline your application. Please understand it is not just for the welfare of our puppies but also that of you, the adopter. We want you to have the best experience and will do our best to work with you if possible to adopt a dog. There will be times when our suggestions will be to look for an older dog vs a puppy, or to wait till your circumstances are more fitting to bring a dog into your life. Our goal is to find all dogs a safe, happily forever home.
We are glad to answer any questions you may have, please feel free to message us and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
How do you adopt a dog? Fill out our application found on this page or on our website, be a little patient I promise to contact every-person for an interview.
Upon approval you have two options:
1. To “watch” our pages for the newest litters coming or
2. To place a non-refundable deposit (good for 6 months) on a specific litter, dog or on our general wait list. The deposits are non-refundable and good for 6 months, so if you don't fall in love with the first pup you meet, we are pretty sure it won’t be long till you will find the “perfect” one. If during that time you adopt from another rescue or change your mind you deposit will go to our emergency vet fund and/or to our spay/neuter clinics we offer in Baja twice a year. Either way you will be doing something very special for very sweet pups and their mamas.
