Major is heartworm free!!!!!!

No adults, no larvae, FREEE! I want to thank everyone for their love, support, kindness, and suggestions. We did it y’all!

We are so excited that he had a perfect ECHO and now heartworm free. He is something Major for sure 🫶🏾.

Major Update 💙!

Major is down 12lbs! Huge accomplishment for him. If you’re new here he went through heartworm treatment and blew up from the steroids and lack of exercise. He’s turning back into a sleek and lean Doberman like he should be!

He also had an ECHO done last Saturday. With him having heartworms I was extremely worried about damage to his heart. It came back perfect and no signs of adult worms! Yes, if he had them the vet could have seen them!

He has a vet appt on Monday to retest for larvae in the blood so let’s keep our fingers crossed that the new regimen of HW preventative worked!

Major is doing fantastic and is having a blast with his BFF Nova, training doing bite stuff and being a dog.

Major Update 💙❤️‍🩹

We have had quite a week. Major had his 2nd and 3rd injection for heartworms this week. Last night was the first night that we both slept through the night.

He is in pain despite being on pain meds and really struggled to get comfortable. Lots of whining and reaching for his backside. It’s just been so sad to watch.

The video attached shows a bit of our experience since hes came home. It is difficult to watch. I have tried to comfort him In and out of the crate and Its not enough. He Is still on crate restriction and we need him to be as calm as possible.

We are managing some of the other side effects like allergic reaction and prostate Issues. We hope these resolve soon as they did last time.

Today he is feeling better and able to get more comfortable. He has completed this round of treatment and now we wait for 90 days to retest to see if we killed all the heartworms.

If we did he can slowly return back to normal life and have more freedom and activities. We are hopeful for that outcome.

Some good news he Is at a healthy weight of 89lbs now 😀. He has also grown taller a bit which gives me hope he can catch up and his growth Is not stunted from the lack of nutrition. He Is still a wonderful and kind soul even though he doesnt feel good. Happy to see me everyday.

Please get your pets the preventative to keep them safe from heartworms. No dog should have to suffer with this preventative condition.

For context- he came here with heartworms. We are taking care of this dog and doing everything we can. He is under the care of a vet.
