GreenDog Foundation is dedicated to reducing the number of dogs that are euthanized in our shelters each and every day. It is the humane thing to do.

We focus on rescuing and rehabilitating them in loving foster homes until they are adopted into their permanent homes. Hundreds of thousands of people have lost their homes in recent years, and as a result have had to give up their pets. Shelter animals are at an all-time high as is euthanasia. I have witnessed pets arriving at the shelter with their name on a jeweled collar, and with special bedd

ings and toys, only to be put down a few days later. Many of us have had to put down an elderly or sick pet. But to a healthy dog or cat, euthanasia is anything but humane.

Update: Koko has found her furever home 🩷

Koko is available for adoption!
3 ish years and 15 lbs

Koko is a sweet, loving, and loyal companion who’s ready to bring joy to the right home. She’s full of personality and absolutely adores toys, cuddles, and being around her people. Whether it’s going for long walks, playing in the yard, or just relaxing by your side, Koko is happiest when she’s engaged and included.

She’s fully potty trained, doesn’t bark or whine, and settles well at home—making her a great housemate. Koko is working on building confidence around other dogs and will benefit from continued, gentle socialization. With patience and guidance, she’s already making progress and just needs the right person to help her continue to grow.

While she can be a bit anxious at times, she thrives with a consistent routine, reassurance, and positive reinforcement. With the right care, Koko’s playful and affectionate nature truly shines.

She’d do best in a home that can offer her structure, attention, and plenty of opportunities to play, explore, and feel safe. Koko is a truly special dog who will make a wonderful best friend for someone willing to invest in her happiness.

Sweet little Zsa zsa has been born with a birth defect called Ectopic Ureter 😩

after doing a series of test lab work CT scan with contrast and her symptoms. It was concluded she has this condition.

Today she sees a surgeon, Dr. WALKER from VSS in Tustin California.

to correct this very delicate procedure not always 100% guaranteed will be costing us between $8000 and $10,000.

The fact that she’s so young, just a puppy has so much life and happiness in her we had to do this had to give her a chance to have a normal functional life .

More to come after consult and surgical date🙏

Back yard breeders and inner breeding is the cause of this defect… She was dumped by the breeder and now we know why… :(

All four rescued from Hesperia Shelter w no time on the clock to spare!

A rescue relies on pledges a lot of times to help offset the monetary costs of maintaining and running a rescue, but sometimes (a lot of times in this rescue) the heart overrules the head and we rescue those that are never networked or seen on social media platforms. Meet Iris and Mowgli…just rescued from Hesperia and just an hour before their euthanasia….

A bittersweet rescue today…

One brother’s time ran out at Lancaster Shelter, while the other was given a second chance.

Maddog was sadly put down, and by the time we found out, sprang into action to save WhitePaw from the same fate.

A heartfelt thank you to for transporting WhitePaw to safety, giving him the chance to live. 🥰 And to the dedicated foster who made this rescue possible—thank you, Alex Coulson, for stepping up when it mattered most. 💕

Fosters truly do save lives. 🐾🐶

Update on the Stunning Wolf Dog, Flora (formerly Jackie)!

Remember Flora? This breathtaking girl was found running loose with a leash on in the Marbella Greenbelt. Thanks to a kind-hearted Good Samaritan, she was safely contained and brought to the OC Shelter—only to land on the euthanasia list far too quickly.

That’s when jumped into action, rescuing her just in time and bringing her to the ranch to regroup, heal, and find her second chance. After a DNA test confirmed what we suspected—she’s the real deal!—Flora was ready for her perfect home.

And what a home she found! Flora was adopted by the incredible wilderness photographer, Emilie McNally, and is now living her absolute best life with her new fur family. She’s thriving, exploring, and embracing the wild spirit that makes her so special.

This is the kind of happy ending we love to see—from the brink of euthanasia to a life of adventure and love!

Flora, you’re truly living the dream. 💕

Meet Taquito, a seven-year-old Miniature Pinscher & Chihuahua mix with a heart as big as his ears! Weighing in at just 13 lbs, this little guy is all about people, love, and lap time!

Taquito is an engaging, sweet, and passive-submissive pup when it comes to people. However, he’d prefer to be the only dog in the home—he loves soaking up all the attention! That said, he’s fantastic on pack walks and does great socializing with other dogs in outdoor settings.

This little lovebug is fully vetted, and we’re just waiting on his bloodwork to clear for a dental cleaning—then he’ll be 100% ready for his forever home!

If you’re looking for a mellow, affectionate, and easygoing companion who just wants to snuggle up on your lap, Taquito is your guy! He’s great on a leash and doing well in the potty department, too.
