🐾 WHAT'S WAGGIN', Y'ALL? Let's talk about screwworms. 🐾
You may have heard the word floating around lately as we have four confirmed cases here in Texas, and while it's definitely something pet parents should be aware of, there's no need to panic.
Screwworms are fly larvae that can infest open wounds, hot spots, skin irritations, and other areas where the skin has been damaged.
The good news? Prevention starts with paying attention.
✔ Check your pets regularly for cuts, scrapes, and skin irritations.
✔ Keep wounds clean and monitored.
✔ Don't ignore excessive licking, chewing, or unusual odors.
✔ Support healthy skin and immune function through quality nutrition.
At Wag Time Boutique, we're big believers that healthier pets start from the inside out. A strong immune system, healthy skin, species-appropriate nutrition, and good hygiene all play a role in helping keep pets happy and thriving.
If you notice a wound that isn't healing, seems to be getting worse, or anything that doesn't look right, contact your veterinarian right away.
Knowledge is power, and we're committed to helping you make informed decisions for your pets every step of the way. 🐾
