Gaited horses can feel a little different to learn—and there’s a reason for that.

The horse still develops and uses its body in many of the same ways. But unlike a trotting horse, a gaited horse doesn’t transition into diagonal pairs.

We’re bringing Steady Horse to Michigan. 🐴

This is a chance to step away from the screen and work with your horse in person, learning the Five Ways to Bond with Your Horse and putting them into practice with hands-on coaching.

On September 19 and 20, we’ll be in Buckley, MI, about 18 miles south of Traverse City, for two full days of hands-on training at the Bond Building Clinic.

We’re keeping the clinic small with 10 riders only.

The little details are where progress happens.

When I review a student’s training, I’m not just looking at whether the horse backs up. I’m watching how the horse responds, where the energy is coming from, and what the rider can change to create more clarity.

Sometimes one small adjustment can make the whole exercise easier for both horse and rider.

The better your communication gets, the smaller your cues can become.

When a horse learns to really listen, you don't need to pull, kick, or constantly remind them what you're asking.

A horse being “finished” doesn’t always mean it’s safe for an intermediate rider.

There can be a big difference between a horse that’s for sale and a horse that’s truly balanced, reliable, and appropriate for the rider sitting in the saddle.
