🐕 Sadie Update: 13 Days Post-Op

Big day today. Sadie's staples are finally coming out! Fingers crossed we can say goodbye to that dreaded cone for good. If she starts licking the surgical site, though, she'll be stuck with it a bit longer. Sending up all the prayers she leaves it alone. 🙏

She's got two more weeks of strict confinement ahead, followed by 2-3 months before we can schedule her spay. That's not ideal since I've already signed a Citation Warning, but Dr. Ramsey is a highly respected vet here in San Antonio. They can always give him a call for verification.

From start to finish, we're looking at around $7K total, with about $6.3K already spent. We're short roughly $1K+, but we'll handle the spay outside of ACS to protect all this hard-earned healing. Sadie still needs another X-ray, her bi-weekly "healing boost" of $15 Costco rotisserie chicken (I'm easing up on the chicken and mixing in more kibble now), plus a health certificate and transport.

On top of that, Coco's FHO surgery is up next week. It got postponed because of Sadie's hip wound drama. We're still accepting donations to help cover these massive vet bills. Every bit helps these pups get back on their feet (literally!).

🐾 Breaking Hearts and Mending Them: Say Hello to Max, Our Tiny Miracle! 🐾

Oh, friends, grab the tissues. This little 3-month-old fluffball named Max was staring down the unthinkable: the euthanasia list at ACS, all because of shelter overcrowding. 😢 But in true RPSVSA magic, our rescue squad swooped in faster than you can say "fetch," pulling him to safety just in time! Now, this wiggly bundle of joy is tail-wagging his way into a brighter tomorrow. 💖

Big, sloppy kisses to our superhero foster who opened their heart and home. Heroes like you make miracles happen every day! 🦸‍♀️🐶

Remember Sadie? Our brave girl who was hit by a car and rushed to ACS, where they found her fractured femur. Over her 24-day stay, she battled pneumonia and tested positive for a tick-borne illness. She's endured more than any pup should, but her fighting spirit never wavered. 💛

This Wednesday marked a turning point: Sadie went through a nearly 6-hour surgery with Dr. Ramsey, who performed an FHO (femoral head ostectomy) and secured her leg with a plate and 9 screws. The great news? She's now resting and recovering at home, surrounded by the devoted care of our rescue director and her wonderful foster, Jan. The special connection they've built through this tough time warms our hearts every day.
