Wells Family Farm

Wells Family Farm Est. OUR HISTORY
The Wells Family Farm began in Utah in 1997 when Sidney and Desiree got married. Sidney has always had a passion for the ranch and farm life.

in 1997; Equestrian Training and Services, an Equestrian Centered Life Coaching Program, Workshops, Community Events, Realtor Services, and Volunteer Opportunities. WELCOME to the Wells Family Farm, a place that offers equestrian training services, an equine centered Life Coaching program, Real Estate services, workshops, community events, and volunteer opportunities. At the time Desiree was in fu

ll force as one of the USDF Region 5, and USCTA Area IX top competitors, while Sidney was pursuing a degree in electronics engineering while working for Roberts and Schaefer engineering and construction firm. EARLY BEGINNINGS
Desiree grew up riding and competing, attending her first competition at 3 years old. She has always had a love for horses and a desire to share her experience with others. As a teen Desiree served as a Junior 4-H Leader, helping others learn the ropes of competing and building a partnership with their horse. Then as an adult Desiree became the leader of her own 4-H club along with serving as a United States Pony Club Instructor. Growing up in Utah it was evident that Desiree would learn how to ride western. However, by the age of 9 she had a great desire to learn about english riding and how to jump. By 13 years old Desiree was competing successfully in dressage and eventing, while maintaining touch with her western roots as she went on to win numerous rodeo queen titles including the PRCA Rodeo circuit and local competitions. During his teenage years Sidney enjoyed exploring the world of rodeo by pursuing bull riding where he enjoyed the thrills of that 8 second ride, during which time he also served as a volunteer for the Utah Diabetes Roundup Rodeo. Throughout his childhood Sidney also learned about farm and ranch operations where he helped maintain a race horse facility, planted and hauled hay, and landscaped more than 30 properties by running both heavy equipment and using his God given equipment – his hands. As a teen Sidney took on the adventure of raising beef cattle with his brothers; spent summers at his aunt’s Idaho potato farm; and apprenticed with his grandfather where he learned about growing pumpkins, and fruit trees while being tutored about water management. During all this, the engineering side of Sidney continued to grow where he explored technical theater, excelling in theatrical effects of lighting, sound, and stage props by applying skills he learned in industrial automation. Then when he met Desiree, his ranch and farm life dream came together as the couple began their vision of the Wells Family Farm. MARRIED LIFE
Not long after the couple got married Sidney joined the United States Air Force, which ventures took the now growing family to various ends of the United States as well as countries abroad. During Sidney’s 24 years of service, the Wells Family Farm continued to be a thriving part of what held the family’s roots together as horses, tractors, trailers and farm equipment, were an essential part of each move. In his transition to retire from the United States Air Force, Sidney has become a Licensed Real Estate Agent/Realtor where his passion for farm and ranch development combine with providing people with an honest and positive experience in both buying and selling their homes. With a strong passion for continually learning and growing, Desiree’s unique journey has led her to become an iPEC and PQ Certified Professional Coach (Life Coach), where she now combines her equestrian background with the world of mental fitness. Through this incredible combination Desiree both helps riders maximize their performance, while working with clients who want to explore the benefits of an equine centered Life Coaching program. As Sidney and Desiree turn the page on their next chapter in life they have found themselves connecting back to their roots as they now utilize their talents and love of community service by planning and putting on community events and activities for families to experience at their farm. This has led to the popular Fall Festival, Cocoa and Cookies with the Ponies, Paint with the Ponies, along with other specialty events and workshops throughout the year. Where the couple’s life together began in Utah, they are now located in San Angelo, Texas where they extend their love and warm welcome to their neighbors and community. Because at the Wells Family Farm, community is family.

Ponies have long since been a family tradition dating back to before either Sidney or I (Desiree) was born. The first pony in that lineage was a black and white Chincoteague pony named "Comet". From there, hundreds of ponies have been a part of a family breeding program that expands generations and into the breeds of Shetland, Welsh, POA, and Haflingers.

We LOVE our ponies and are thrilled to share the rich family history of confident kids and kind ponies with you!

At our farm we go beyond riding lessons and into the world of developing a complete horseman, beginning as soon as your child can smile at a pony. Our Pony Pals Riding Program has been meticulously designed with your child's early development and progression through the years in mind. This is a very unique opportunity to work with our amazing, sweet, little ponies who are just the right size for your child.

If you are looking for a fun program for your child to learn about the wonderful world of ponies, then we have one for you!

Come join our monthly riding program that's focused on children ages 5 and under as they learn the early basics to becoming a Mindful Horseman or Horsewoman.

Your child will get to explore learning about ponies from the ground up as they focus on one specialty horse management topic each week that builds on the other.

Then your child will put their knowledge to practice through fun and interactive games on horseback that are designed to develop confidence, balance, and coordination with riding skills they will take with them for life!

This weekend's project on the farm. Creating supports for the pumpkin arch until we do a rebuild next season. Now if we can only get a handle on the little ground squirrels that have come in to eat our pumpkin starts.

We want to welcome the newest addition to our farm, BANDIT.

Bandit is a lovely little miniature gelding that we are thrilled to have join our farm. He's ready to help teach toddlers about confidence and partnership in our Pony Pals Riding Program, along with serving as an emotional and mental health pony in our Life Coaching with Horses Program.

Bandit is super sweet, loves hugs and cuddles and is truly a "pony in your pocket". Bandit will be part of this Saturday's Pony Pals Playdate and we are excited to have those attending meet him for the first time!

We'd also like to give a special shout out and thank you to the Sykora family for allowing us to add Bandit to our farm, and to Brittany Mattes Casanova for connecting us to make this whole ordeal possible. He is dearly loved and we look forward to many years of enjoying his company.
