My training season here in Salt Lake is winding down. I may only offer a handful of classes before I wrap things up. If you or someone you know is interested in having your dog taken care of this year, now’s the time. This is a one time training that your dog will remember for the rest of its life, so there isn’t a need to have the training fresh in your dog’s mind in the spring.

My first trap aversion class was a success. I was approached years ago to perform a trap aversion class. I had no idea how I would do such a thing. After a friend of a friend’s dog died in a conibear trap last year, I decided to take on the task. After talking with a number of trappers, scent dog trainers and other dog trainers, I came up with a method that mirrored my rattlesnake training method. Everything worked out the way that I had hoped. It looks like I will be adding this to my repertoire.

I was able to hang out with this handsome fellow for a few days. A few trainers and I were able to run some dogs through a porcupine aversion training in Oregon with great results. Now all I need is a porcupine…….

Here is a picture of my mentor, Web Parton, training my dog, Brandy, back in 2014. He was supposed to retire years ago, but his passion for working with dogs has kept him from doing so.
