Mayas Cavapoo puppies are 2 weeks old!

Our Muppets Litter is officially TWO weeks old! 🎉🐾

This week is one of my favorite little transitions. Eyes are beginning to open, those tiny legs are getting stronger, and instead of simply scooting around the whelping box, we’re starting to see the very first wobbly attempts at walking.

At this stage, life is still mostly eat, sleep, snuggle, repeat—but behind the scenes, their brains and bodies are developing incredibly quickly.

We’re continuing gentle handling, early snuggle sessions, nail trims, daily weight monitoring, and age-appropriate early sensory experiences while keeping Mom and her babies comfortable and relaxed.

And pretty soon…things get REALLY fun. Over the next couple of weeks their little world will start getting bigger as they hear more, move more, interact with each other, and begin exploring beyond the whelping box.

For now, we’re soaking up the sleepy newborn stage while it lasts. ❤️

This actually isn’t bath time. 🛁🐶 It’s bath time prep.

One of the ways we prepare our puppies for real life is through classical and operant conditioning—pairing something new or unfamiliar with something the puppy already enjoys.

For their first introduction to a full-size bathtub, we aren’t adding water, shampoo, slippery feet AND handling all at once.

Instead, we start simple.

🐾 A towel gives them secure footing so they aren’t slipping around.
🍽️ Dinner creates a positive association with this brand-new environment.
🛁 The bathtub gets to be explored without anything scary happening.

Over time, those positive experiences can help a puppy approach future bath time with more confidence because the bathtub itself is already familiar.

Good puppy socialization isn’t about exposing puppies to as many things as possible.

It’s about being thoughtful about how they experience them. 🤍

Today, dinner in the bathtub.
Later, an actual bath.

One little layer of confidence at a time.

The interest in our Cavapoo puppies for 2027 has been incredible, and I’m so grateful for every family who has reached out.

At Choice Paws, our goal has never been to produce as many puppies as possible. Instead, we focus on giving each puppy the very best start in life.

From extensively health-tested parents to one of the most comprehensive puppy development programs you’ll find, every puppy is raised with an amazing curriculum specific to the Cavapoo development and small size. A true specialist. Our program combines intentional training, confidence-building, socialization, and daily enrichment during those critical first eight weeks. We also continue supporting families long after go-home day with resources, guidance, and extended care options when you need them. We have great communication and support a true team effort!

Because of that commitment, we can only welcome a limited number of families each year.

Our 2027 Cavapoo puppy waitlist applications are now closed.

If you already have an interview scheduled this month, I can’t wait to meet you! These conversations are one of my favorite parts of the process as we get to know each other and start planning for your future Choice Paws Cavapoo puppy.

If you missed this round, don’t worry! You’re always welcome to submit an application so you’re already in our system. Interviews for the next waitlist opening won’t begin until after the new year.

Be sure to join our email list and turn on notifications for our Instagram Stories so you don’t miss future announcements. While it’s always possible that we could move through our 2027 list faster than anticipated, that’s uncommon. If additional openings do become available, they would most likely be toward the end of next year. Otherwise, we’ll begin filling our 2028 waitlist.

People often ask me, “How do your puppies come home already understanding the crate and potty routine?”

The answer isn’t one magic trick. It’s repetition.

Crate training and potty habits aren’t something you do once for a cute video. They’re built through dozens and dozens of short sessions, every single day. The consistency is what helps puppies understand the routine and begin making good choices on their own.

That’s also why raising puppies well is such a hands-on commitment. These lessons happen throughout the day—not just at feeding time or when it’s convenient. Every nap, every wake-up, every potty trip, every crate session is another opportunity to build a habit.

When you’re researching breeders, don’t just ask if they introduce the crate or start potty training.

Ask:
🐾 How often are the puppies practicing?
🐾 What does a typical day look like?
🐾 Can they show you the process—that way you can continue that same way at home!

The puppies don’t learn from a few sessions. They learn because someone is there, day after day, patiently guiding them through the routine.

That’s why I share so much of our daily curriculum. I want families to see the work that happens behind the scenes—because those little moments add up to a puppy that has a real head start when they come home.

Routines.

As humans, our days are built around routines. Morning coffee, bedtime rituals, family dinners, evening walks—these predictable moments help us feel grounded and connected.

Dogs thrive on routines for many of the same reasons.

When your puppy knows what to expect, life becomes more predictable. Those small daily traditions help build confidence, encourage calm behavior, reduce stress, and strengthen the bond between you and your dog.

Reading together is just one example.

Maybe your puppy curls up while your child reads a bedtime story. Maybe they sit with you during your morning coffee, wait for family movie night, or know it’s time for an evening walk.

These moments may seem small, but they often become the routines your dog looks forward to most.
