Itâs been one week with my new foster Dwight, and this sweet boy is still carrying so much trauma. Every movement has to be slow and gentle so I donât scare him. He sleeps most of the day, doesnât know how to play yet, and is still learning what it means to feel safe.
He does love his pupcycles, though. Bully sticks⌠weâre still working on that part.
Iâd love any suggestions from people whoâve helped a deeply frightened dog learn to trust again. He deserves the world, and Iâm committed to helping him get there.
I may be picking up Dwightâs brother on Monday. His foster fell through, and he isnât doing well at the shelter. My hope is that being together will bring them both some comfort â that it makes things better, not harder. These boys have already survived so much side by side. Maybe being reunited is exactly what they need.
