Today I became a W.D.D.O. (World Detector Dog Organization) Certifying Official and Certified Trainer.

A lot goes into earning that responsibility, and today I got to be on the other side of the process.

For once, I wasn’t certifying my own dogs. I was helping set up certification scenarios for other explosive detection and sport detection teams as part of the W.D.D.O. certification process.

Becoming a W.D.D.O. Certifying Official is a responsibility, not just another certification. It means being trusted to help uphold the standards of the organization, create fair evaluations, and ensure teams are being tested consistently and appropriately.

W.D.D.O. certifications are double blind and completely randomized evaluations. The handler does not know what the search will look like, where the hides are placed, or what challenges they will encounter. During setup, the evaluator uses a dice system to determine the number of hides and their placements for the test scenarios. This allows teams to be evaluated on their actual training, communication, and teamwork — not on preparing for a predictable search.

I have completed all requirements to become a W.D.D.O. Certifying Official, including the written exam and required certification setup process.

I have also earned my W.D.D.O. Certified Trainer designation through working with green dogs and green handlers, from imprinting on odor all the way through certification.

Detection work is something I am incredibly passionate about because there is always more to learn. Every dog is different. Every handler is different. Every team has their own journey.

The certification is the end result, but the process, the training, and the teams behind it are what matter.

🚨 Final Call for WDDO Certifications!

Registration closes soon for this weekend’s World Detector Dog Organization (WDDO) Certifications.

To register, you must message us or email [email protected] to reserve your spot. Once registration has been finalized, everyone will receive an email with their assigned certification date and time.

Certifications Offered:
💥 Explosives Detection
💊 Narcotics Detection
🪳 Bed Bug Detection
🎯 Sport Detection

Why certify?

For operational teams, certification is an opportunity to validate your training in a double-blind testing environment that reflects professional standards. Whether you’re working explosives, narcotics, or bed bug detection, certification demonstrates that your team can locate target odor while meeting the objective standards established by the WDDO. It’s an independent evaluation that showcases the reliability, consistency, and proficiency of your detection team.

For sport teams, while there isn’t an operational requirement for certification, it’s an incredible opportunity to put your training to the test under the exact same double-blind conditions used for professional detection teams. Earning a WDDO Sport Certification shows that your dog has successfully demonstrated odor recognition, search skills, and teamwork to WDDO standards in an unbiased testing environment.

No matter your goals, certification is more than earning a certificate, it’s a chance to challenge your training, measure your team’s abilities, and prove your skills against a recognized international standard.

We look forward to seeing everyone this weekend!

Happy 2-year anniversary to our trainer, Kaytlyn! 🎉

It’s been an incredible two years watching her grow, not only as a trainer, but alongside her own dogs and every client dog she works with.

If you’ve attended one of our drop-in classes, you’ve seen firsthand how much heart she puts into making every session fun, engaging, and rewarding. Behind the scenes, she pours that same dedication into every board and train dog, building confidence, fine-tuning obedience, and creating the strongest possible foundation before they head back home to their families.

We’re incredibly proud of everything Kaytlyn has accomplished and the growth she’s shown over the past two years. Thank you for your hard work, your passion, and the care you put into every dog that comes through our doors.

Here’s to many more years of learning, growing, and changing lives, one dog at a time.
