Here’s hoping the year of the horse is good to us all!

We think this explains A LOT! Let's all gallop forward - positively . . . (Credit to Relationshipthoughtclub on Facebook)

Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas!!

I guess it's Christmas, at least that's what they say,
but for those at the track, it seems like just another day.
The horses need watered, groomed, & fed,
And their stalls need cleaned for a soft fluffy bed.
The groom takes care of each one by one,
And only after evening chores do they know they're done.
They went to the dinner that the chaplain put on,
And laughed & talked until the food was all gone.
Some friends they've known for years but not their last name
But, it doesn't matter, they're family just the same.
Back in their room, they think of home,
And, maybe, just maybe, feel a little alone.
There are no presents or a tree with tinsel & lights,
But they remember a star that shone so bright.
It led the Wise Men to where a baby did lay
In a manger filled with soft fluffy hay.
God chose a stable for the birth of His son,
To show the world that He welcomes everyone.
That first Christmas night the animals made room
And, along with the Wise Men, there maybe stood a groom.

Merry Christmas to all grooms who are away from home & family to take care of the horses.

FELIZ NAVIDAD!!

💥 OQHRA Hall of Fame Inductee💥
JD Anderson
Sallisaw, Oklahoma

JD Anderson has spent more than sixty years in the horse business, and at eighty-nine years old he is still training. He grew up in Oklahoma, where his father ran horses on bush tracks across the state, and he learned the work from the ground up. His family raced multiple breeds, and that carried on to his own career as he trained Quarter Horses, Paints and Appaloosas with equal skill.

JD became known for his steady approach and the pride he took in prepping a horse the right way. He established long-standing relationships with owners and built a record that earned respect across the region. In 1992 he was the leading Quarter Horse trainer at Blue Ribbon Downs, and he raced at every major Oklahoma track during his long career, as well as several tracks throughout surrounding states.

Beyond his work on the racetrack, JD played an important part in helping bring pari-mutuel racing to Oklahoma. He was active in the early formation of the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Racing Association and worked alongside other horsemen to support the growth of the industry.

His induction reflects a career built on consistency, experience and genuine dedication to Oklahoma racing. Few have stayed the course as long as JD, and his place in the Hall of Fame is well earned.

The Hall of Fame inductions will take place on February 28, 2026, at the Grand Casino Resort in Shawnee, Oklahoma.

Tickets will be available on January 14th at https://bit.ly/4nYCgdt.
Hotel reservations will be available at www.grandresortok.com .

It’s my favorite time of year but it can also be the hardest. I love what God has allowed me to do again!! I look forward to this years foal crop, please get with me on dates for your mares to secure your spot as I have limited space this year.

Raising horses is not for the faint of heart…..As breeders we don’t normally talk about the hard things in life that comes with owning and raising horses…
We normally won’t share how it feels to help your favourite horse through injury … finally get one in foal… only to loose your favourite broodmare to a torn intestine while carrying your hopes n dreams…have one abort or when one colics and you can’t save her and her unborn foal…
We don’t talk about getting ready for something important and dropping everything to assist our animals….. even in your dress clothes…. I have even had to miss Christmas supper over a mare with a serious injury to her hock…
We don’t talk about the tears shed when we have to put a foal down due to complications..when it hardly got a chance at life…
All the late night and early morning mare checks and sleep deprivation…

We don’t share the hard parts…. When we have done everything to try and save our equine partners and yet we still loose them…

We don’t talk about emergencies that only seem to happen on holidays and middle of the nights. When we know vets are with their family’s or asleep. . ( so grateful for our vets❤️)

So when you see cute baby pictures in the spring , foals playing in the pastures. Just know there’s a lot that we don’t talk about that happened long before we could share those happy moments with you….❤️

Life withbhorses isnt always easy…. But for me it is always worth it❤️🙏❤️

Grateful for this c**t “Swagger in the Skye”
Glad he made it here safe and sound…. When I needed him the most 4yrs ago❤️🙏❤️

❤️Update for those of you new to my page and asking about this foal with he heart❤️

Skye was born on my sons birthday ( after my son had passed away unexpectedly) my son used to make heart shapes for me when he cooked my food or even unloaded my square bales…. So I know this was a sign from my son letting me know he is still near ❤️
