Problem solving sarcoids
Who: My beautiful yearling mare Khali (granddaughter of hollywood dunit on top and okie leo on bottom)
What: Summer sore oh no sarcoid
When: summer 2018
story time, read to find out how i got it to just a bald spot on her leg
I bought khali March 2018, Come June I was giving her a bath only to notice a small bump forming so over the next couple weeks I start to watch very closely, it gets to be picture one. I call my vet and have her come out (first time using this particular vet) she tells me it is a summer sore and to treat it with ivermectin and neosporin so i do, it gets worse (not pictured here) Its 3x the size looking like an angry red mushroom and another one is forming below and looks like more around it are trying too. I call her back and she just casually says well it much be a sarcoid (mind you she took a sample from her and never tested it, which from my understanding that is what the sample was for). So i start doing research until my eyes bleed, A LOT of people say to put a rubber band around it and let it fall off and then tucked way back on google i found someone who used tooth paste and someone else who used mouth wash (just applying it) so i ordered the xxterra that everyone says to use including the vet and while i waited i decided to try putting a rubber band around it and use mouth wash, within a week the bottom one fell off and a week and a half the top sarcoid (middle picture right before it fell off) fell off and 2 days later the wound was healed. (picture 3) I am amazed this work, now i am waiting to see if it will stay gone but if your horse has a sarcoid I definitely recommend trying this method.
