The Rowan County Animal Shelter is an open admission, municipal shelter committed to protecting animals while working to promote a harmonious atmosphere between the animals and residents of our county. Over the years our Shelter has strived to become more adoption friendly and inclusive of the community who supports us. We have gone from averaging 35 adoptions a month in 2010, to saving the lives

of more than 3,000 animals in 2020. The Animal Shelter and all of its staff are very proud of the progress that has been made and know that none of it would be possible without the hard work and dedication of our caring citizens.

These 2 had to come back due to an emergency and need to find another foster to live with for about another 2 weeks.

Foster can live in county adjacent to Rowan - must have all proper information of person who will physically have the kittens before leaving the facility. If interested, please contact us at 704-216-7768.

At first, Lila can come across as a little grumpy in her kennel, but don't let that fool you! The moment she steps outside, her true personality shines. This sweet girl is affectionate, playful, and loves spending time with people.

Lila's favorite activity? Fetch! She absolutely nails it and would love a family who enjoys playing as much as she does. During her walk back from playtime, we passed several kennels, and Lila wasn't bothered by the other dogs at all, showing calm and easygoing behavior.

A huge thank you to Brad’s Doggie Day Out foster for giving him such a wonderful adventure last Friday! Brad enjoyed a visit to Tractor Supply where “everyone thought he was adorable,” then headed to the barn to meet lots of new people—and even some horses. The day ended with playtime in the garden, giving him plenty of opportunities to show off what a great companion he is.

His foster shared that Brad “traveled excellently, walked on the lead nicely and played really well with other dogs.” And perhaps best of all, “he loves a cuddle!” Brad is ready to trade day trips for a forever home. If you’re looking for a friendly, well-mannered, affectionate dog, come meet Brad and see if he’s the perfect fit for your family.
